@mseeross The US, obviously.

@JenGM24 No-one saw it who wasn't there. But the US has the most to gain, since it destroys a potential Russian bargaining chip.

@thomaslunde5014 Is English not your first language, by any chance?

@thomaslunde5014 Fascism is a word which has lost all meaning.

@rajivshah6128 And you believe the lies the Western media churn out, I suppose? The truth is probably somewhere in between.

@thomaslunde5014 I'm not paid to do anything. I merely resent the way in which the whole dreadful Ukraine situation is twisted by Western politicians and media. It is, in essence, a turf war between two kleptocracies: the Russian one and the US-backed Ukrainian one.

@PurplePumpkaboo Disguised as seals?

@PurplePumpkaboo I've had to look them up. I think having only three fingers would prevent them from joining the US Marine Corps, although being green would doubtless be a bonus in terms of racial diversity.

@PurplePumpkaboo I apologise to the Irkens regarding their digital deficiencies. Blame Google.

It is rumoured that later today (Oct 5) Putin will announce that, following the official incorporation of the three Donbass republics into the Russian Federation, the current incursions by the Ukrainian armed forces will be treated as an invasion of sovereign territory in terms of international law. The consequences could well be dire. So far, Russia has refrained from massive bombing or missile attacks, nuclear or otherwise. The Russians may well care very little how many troops or how much materiel they lose on the ground - but they are far from stupid. They are not playing the role we have assigned to them. Their current losses are entirely predictable and must have been anticipated - as must the response.
