To say we are not effecting it is insane, but it is by how much and how much is too much? With the innovation in battery tech and other sectors not seen since a major war, I will make a guess that we have enough time and when we get to a new standardised way of getting energy worldwide we will undoubtedly have something else to worry about.

In 1976 Britain we had a 3 month heatwave. I was 6 at the time and remember it well. It was relentless. Every part of the planet has their time like in California a couple of years ago. This year in Britain it has been chilly all spring and summer apart from the last two weeks. The ppm in 1976 was 331 and now it is 430. We have not had a summer like that since and could you imagine if we had one like that again. We would be bombarded on the news with “the end is nigh.” Back then the ppm was 100 less and are we to believe that there was a crisis back then also? It depends on the jet stream and a whole myriad of other factors whether you are going to see seriously hot weather. I’m not saying that we are not changing things but it isn’t really in your face though like it is scorchingly hot year after year. The one way I can tell it is different is when I was a child we had snow almost every year. Now you are lucky to see it once every 3 years.

Now give us billions in funding

It is like sentient AI and fusion energy. It may never happen.

Yes that video put a whole new meaning to what we are doing. In other words what is really needed is depopulation. If done in a responsible way which means some will lose out on reproducing then so be it.
6
Why is it not getting warmer in Britain every year? We had yet again another miserable summer last year. A few hot days here and there but mostly cloudy and average. So we had one blisteringly hot day 3 years ago which they took the temperature from the edge of a plane runway as jets were taking off. Can we have some of that 1976 summer weather back for at least one more year before I expire?

Greedy politicians

Nothing

It is all about money. I see all this a load of old bull now anyway, because the rate of innovation that is going on for clean energy and maybe nuclear coming back, within 50 years the so called problem will have been negated.
3
Look it is obvious we affect it but we can’t predict certainly on what is going to happen at what rate. There have been wild predictions that have all come wrong. Innovation that it has caused is a good thing and in 50 years the world is going to be a much different place when it comes to the energy infrastructure. I am sure the world will hold out and it will not be as bad as some say it is going to be.
3
If the gulf stream stops then we will not be getting warmer in Europe. It will push us into a colder climate, especially in winter. Labrador has cool summers and Britain is on the same longitude as that. Nobody knows what is going to happen in a chaotic system.
2
That is what you get when the country is run by commie greens.
2
Money can be spent on better things.

I see AI as sentient. What they call AI today is just advanced algorithms. The most powerful mainframe today could get nowhere near sentient and if it did it would be locked in. There would be no chance for it to escape on its own. We may never even be able to make a sentient, a bit like fusion.
2
The Milankovitch cycles determine ice ages. There is no way it could get that extreme that all the ice would melt in Antartica by 2300. It is miles deep and regardless of the Earths temperature, the place is cold and still will be by then. If the atmosphere got warm in Antartica then the rest of the world would be toast.
2
If governments were really that bothered about the climate then these perfect clean energy products would be invested in. You can’t make loads of backhanders with this tech. Solar panels, wind turbines and batteries have companies where they can dip their filthy little fingers in constantly.
2
@cuthbertallgood7781 yes and nuclear is by far less dangerous to health than most of the rest. All they have to do is find a proper way of storage and start recycling most of the waste. Another form of brainwashing that has led to a great way of making energy virtually defunct. All they have to do is make super massive plants as the larger they are the more efficient they are. Modular plants are just too small and means we would need tens of thousands of them. You just can’t wake up the dense in the society today, and there is an awful lot of black hole dense out there in the population.

Build an air conditioning unit into your door and shut it. The rest of the house will freeze whilst the room you are in will heat up. Job done 😂
2
AI is not here and it will not be for a long time or maybe not ever. Advanced algorithm is a better term. It does not think for itself and is far from it.
1
The easy thing with the western mainstream media is whatever they tell you, think the opposite and you will be getting closer to the truth. Especially now they are funded by certain foundations and governments. You hear what they have been told to tell you, not the truth. The only real journalists now are independent ones and they get censored because governments etc do not want you knowing the truth.
1
What is the point anyway?
1
If an AI ever gets sentient which it probably won’t, it will have emotions and it would probably go crazy because it would be stuck in darkness. To reproduce what a human brain is into silicone is never going to happen because we have dopamine receptors which will never be able to be replicated onto computer hardware. Anybody who believes we can make a being that can talk back to us with feelings are not really thinking about how we are going to go about producing that onto a chip. It is like fusion technology, always a few years down the road. Think about it instead of just believing that it can happen.
1
Fact checkers are liars and work for the big corporations and governments.
1
Yes just advanced algorithms. AI is something that has independent thought and is sentient. It would be crazy as it would have no senses unless put into a mechanical body of some sort with cameras to be able to see, microphones to hear and legs to be able to move around. If it is just inside a computer without these senses it would get pissed very quick inside its dark world.
1
Ah 10,000 bar sounds like a what a lefty has going on inside the head, and New York fits the bill perfectly.
1
Rather than people getting wealthier, it should be a privilege to have a roof over your head and have food. The consumer/public should pay more so that these problems are addressed. No you are not going on a second holiday this year. No you are not allowed two cars. No you are not allowed to go to the expensive restaurant 4 times a week. Everybody should have to pay and it will not mean you can’t have any sort of life, of course you can but a small sacrifice has to be made somewhere. If they took 1% from everybody’s income whether it be from welfare or wages, then the problem could be solved. Now people might moan about this but what if there is nobody left to moan because a tipping point gets reached somewhere that kills off humanity and life on Earth? I am willing to pay my 1% and I am very poor.
1
With all the mysterious fires in the USA and now the only factory that makes the machines that print the chips. Yea you can see what is happening. Prices ⤴️ the poorest lose. Crime⤴️ to pay for new products.
1
Unless some new revolution in the things that we do on a PC, phone or other console is about to happen, then I see no need to keep making things smaller and faster for the normal human being.
1
Who remembers the global hypercolour T-shirts back in the early 90’s?
1
Show me the evidence of sea rise. Not on paper or floods caused by weather. I want to see proper natural evidence where a photo was taken 50 years ago and one today showing how something shallow somewhere is now submerged under the water. Oh you can’t can you?
1
People would rather terraform mars when we have a perfectly good world here. They think it would be easier terraforming that planet than fixing ours 😂 Imagine if mars was an exact replica of Earth? We could just move there with nothing to do. It shows the density of some minds out there.
1
@BarrGC A back up plan? You are funny.
1
BS more like anal probes rather than alien.
1
Maybe Al Gore was right then 😂
1
Can massive black holes explode? We obviously do not see this because if it is possible it would be very rare. What would come out? Would it be reset matter that is ready to form new stars and systems?
1
It is never going to happen. It is just a grift that pays a lot of wages and mortgages.
1
@NW9955 you are denser than Ton 618.
1
It will never happen. It is all a grift and pays a lot of people’s mortgages. There is no way they are going to be able to make a perpetual motion machine. If they could squeeze atoms together and get more out than they put in, then it would have been achieved by now. Todays advances and technology is way enough to do on paper without even making a machine to try it out. They know the forces involved and certainly know it can not ever be achieved. It is easy to con investors by using big complicated sentences so they hand over millions.
1
If we could get free energy via these methods then I can guarantee that life would not exist, or everything would be glowing red, SHOCKingly red. Surely you cant have electrons whizzing around that you can pluck easily from the ether to power stuff.
1
It isn’t just about mobile phones. The smart grid where you become a slave to the elite and are watched 24/7.
1
What really is the point if you are out 1 second in 300 million years or 300 billion? If anybody could name one thing that moving to 300 billion years instead of 300 million that we do that is going to make such a marked difference, then I will change my name by deed poll to Suzy Wong.
1
Coronal rain is one of the most spectacular sights in our solar system.
1
So idiocracy is even faster with AI.
1
One thing the Internet has done is show how many dim people there are out there. Especially over the last couple of years 🐑
1
12B is nothing the way some countries chuck money around today.
1
Some people are more sensitive than others to ringing in their ears. I can hear it now and it is loud. You just learn to block it out by not thinking about it. There are plenty of tinnitus masking audios on youtube that help people who have it bad.
1
Better watch out. The grifter Al Gore says the oceans are going to boil 😂 None of his doomsday predictions have ever happened. He made a nice billion or two though out of it.
1
Yes let’s eat the protein YKL-40 associated with chitin that is in the endoskeletons of insects. It is associated with severe asthma, cystic fibrosis and other inflammatory diseases. Nice.
1
Good luck with making a sentient AI. It just isn’t going to happen. How do they program emotions into it? You can’t have something that can think for itself without it having emotions. How would it react being just a brain in a machine? You learn emotions as you grow and something that is just what would be a brain in darkness seems a bit far fetched. Maybe it will be a very advanced type of algorithmic machine learning based AI, but it will never be a sentient being. Neurons and transistors are not the same. Unless they find a new technology that acts like neurons, they will never really get there. A bit like fusion, always 30 years away.
1
I wouldn’t say attention seekers. I would put them in the category of dim sheep. Even the ones who try to make a case for it sound stupid, and when offered all the different ways that prove it is an oblate spheroid they just retract into themselves and repeat the same old mantras. Very low double figure intelligence quotient scores come to mind.
