As long as they shut the electric grid down then that would be the main thing. Mobile internet and GPS is just an annoyance that would put us in the dark ages. They just shut down the transformers to save the grid.

Wow the greed is amazing. If he had sold that patent for $25M (probably worth over double today) he would have been a very wealthy young man, and could have walked away. Anybody would love to make an invention and sell it for millions. Yes it could have made you a billion if you did not sell it but that is the risk you take. Back in the day people knew the risks of taking on big corporations, so selling it for $25M, living the rest of your life in luxury and running away from it sounds like it is and was the best thing to do. Imagine the house he could have bought, the luxurious holidays and ate at the best restaurants. Greed gets you nowhere and maybe an early grave.

Yea well before that. They have so many probes around the sun that if a big one happens they will shut down the transformers to save the electric grid. Satellites will cause a problem but that is nothing compared to the grid going down. Data is not stored in satellites so day to day operations like banks would not be affected. Maybe major airlines would stop for a bit because of GPS issues. The Internet would go down on mobile phones and that might be a good thing and wake people up for once.

It is funny how all these devices were made back when the understanding of physics was less than what it is today. There are more people today and we do not see anything like this anymore. I wonder why. Surely we should be hearing of backyard physicists with amazing inventions like these today…but no there is nobody. The reason being is it was easier to fool back then when the knowledge of science was still in its ascendancy. Today anything can be debunked almost instantly, hence nobody is claiming something truly amazing. The last time was the two scientists who claimed the breakthrough in superconductivity a year ago. That got debunked almost instantly.
