In the 70’s in Britain, everybody was in the same predicament. Most had council houses and life was hard. The people in their 70’s would look back to the 1920’s when they were in their prime and say they were the best of times and society is worse. As Simon has already pointed out in many videos. People still got attacked by gangs and this goes back centuries. Look at the sailor who met with his demise in 1786 at Hindhead on his way back to his ship in Portsmouth. Was the world a better and safer place then than now? I don’t think so. Life was much harder for most. I think you are seeing your youth in rose tinted glasses. The reason why the so called good old days will never return is because the world is constantly changing and never stands still. The 1800’s were different from the 1700’s. Things and change are just speeding up a little more in our time because of innovation and invention. I can see that harder times ahead will come, but if man gets through that period then the real golden age will come to be. Sadly that futuristic world we will never get to see. You can see some of the buildings that you see in futuristic movies are starting to become reality. One day cities will look like that futuristic wonderland, or man will meet his demise. Who knows which one it will be. Just remember whether you lived a rich lifestyle or was homeless most of your life, nothing really matters in the end because once you are gone, you are gone.
