He pulled a blinder if you ask me. If he had been sent to Sweden, he would have done his time there and would have been carted off to the US and spent either the rest of his life in the penal system over there or till he was a very old man. He paid a big price but he is almost free and 12 years is better than natural life rotting away.

That helicopter that opened fire on the journalists should of not come out until the tensions calmed down. There was an insurgency going on and it inflamed matters no end. That action which was leaked made more insurgents which in turn meant more of our troops lost their lives. He was not innocent at all. He did the right thing and now he is almost free. He would have been extradited to the US after whatever he served in Sweden and he would be rotting in the US penal system now probably for the rest of his life. He did exactly the right thing even though it has cost him 12 years. Better that than rotting away. He was not innocent though and should not have leaked that footage at that time which set off the last 12 years of history. There are just some things you do not meddle in when mens lives are at stake in the middle of an insurgency.

Whichever way you look at it he would have ended up in Sweden in jail and then sent to the USA never to see the light of day again, or until he was a very old man if he made it that far. I think he has pulled a blinder if he can get home to Australia and live the rest of his life. It was a hell of a price to pay but better than rotting in the US penal system.
