Small plants are inefficient. The efficiency goes up and cost goes down the bigger the nuclear plant you build. Why would we want a hundred thousand of these all over the world when we can have a thousand or so main plants? Seems silly really.

The reactors built today are far more safer than yesteryear. Fukushima was just bad planning, building reactors on the coast of a country with high chances of tsunamis. They could have mitigated the disaster by building proper safety measures. Nobody died as a direct result of that disaster. Chernobyl was an old soviet reactor that had an illegal procedure done. It could have been averted. These reactors would never be made again. Only 31 people died as a direct result but countless cancers and deformations down the line can be attributed to the disaster. The Three mile island plant is not worth talking about because it was a big nothing burger really. Today nuclear power is one of the safest forms of energy when it comes to lives lost. Fossil fuels are far more dangerous and millions die from pollution caused. The nuclear power plants today are far more safer than Chernobyl and as long as they are properly made with all aspects of safety wherever they are built, we are silly getting taken in by the hysteria that it is dangerous. As I said in another comment modular reactors are inefficient and you don’t want thousands in each country because the infrastructure needed for that type of plant is massive. Better to have 36 reactors in 12 sites for Britain. They already have 9 sites.
