  1. You have 2 two man crews for the 512 square miles that is Fife council. With £40k salary each and roughly £340k in tools, petrol and product you can get the cost to just £500k a year for normal potholes with 2 crews. The big jobs where drains are sunk can be dealt with by the big contractors. There would be plenty of men who would gladly work for £800 a week wages to go around and keep their area free from potholes year round. That £170k per crew left over after wages are paid would pay for the bags of EZ Street asphalt 22kg bags at £33 a pop, propane, petrol, tools etc. Then in with that you get your regional manager, payroll clerks and admin who see over 30 or so crews. 500 crews nationwide with the regional managers and staff would only cost £250m a year out of a vehicle tax revenue that takes in over £12 billion a year seems like a steal if you ask me. £100 million for Fife alone just shows the amount of money the councils fritter away. You can do the whole country for £250m a year and keep the motorists happy.
