  2. Mangione has caused one of the real issues in the States, to come into focus. The absolutely egregious situation of the Medicare system in the US, the feeling of frustration by people who have had health issues, but suddenly find themselves with no support for them and may actually find their financial security jeopardized. And as Robert says, the CEO’s of these corporations are making out like bandits, profits through the roof. This incident has focused people’s minds on this issue. This is really at the base of why so many in America are angry and unsettled about what’s happening. The unfair balance between corporations and truly wealthy people in the country, and the average citizen, who is struggling to just keep on top of their lives, cost wise is at the root of the restlessness and political upheaval in the US.

  9. I’m not an economist….a homemaker, mainly….but I have thought about a lot of this, and have also realized that re Unions, if we didn’t have them, we would need them. Because employers aren’t going to give equitable salaries and benefits, “out of the goodness of their hearts”. They need to be held to account. Workers are the source of their wealth and as important as whatever they are making, doing, etc., and perhaps more important that the shareholders. But now, the Shareholder is King! (Disclosure: I am a shareholder.)

  13. Love the interaction between Heather and Robert. The teasing about “how long “ Robert’s been around, etc. Great give and take. They are both so honest and candid about all the issues that are swirling around in the US. One can not overstate the influence of these factors, corruption of corporate power, the super rich. It isn’t going to go away, and it’s going to be issue for awhile.

  15. Ok, how could Trump win, after Harris had raised so much cash when she became the candidate. And had such huge crowds at her rallies. Howcum did that not translate to votes? Is America so fixed on the dollar, that they’d vote in a guy who is a slime ball. And Biden did a good job turned the Covid economy into a much better situation. No one was to blame for the Covid situation and it changed so much, including the economy. Not Trump OR Biden’s fault. But Biden did a good job of reversing the negative effects. But it’s funny, the Trump gang are for more in the tent with the rich, entitled, greedy elites. Harris was appealing to the working class, unions, and those folks should have stood with her. Are we being blinded by these rich people who control of a good deal? Because a lot of us don’t get the reality. And you’ve said that just now. The reason people feel that the system is rigged, is bc it is, but it isn’t the left leaning politicians, it’s the right wingers who are protecting the rich and keeping the status quo. The rich keep getting richer! And middle America is fed up.
