Thanks for touching on the fact that nobody does real work anymore. Everyone I know working at bigger companies knows someone. Everyone I know getting by on skill had to cacoon and survive without much and now has their own thing.

@DrBlood-cq2cm actually it's more like 24%. The other numbers count people working at mcdonalds, and also counts 2 employed people if a single person is working two jobs.

I'm fairly certain it'll be a lot better. Advances in technology and information create stronger and smarter individuals. The devastation will be entirely on the financial/asset side. The American people are squeezed dry and all they have left are the promises of savings/401k/some amount of housing equity, and these jobs that "are secure".

This is actually a soft reboot of this one called "Black Thursday"

@tmo4330 ok see how you're saying that negatively? Imagine you're rich and your son comes and tells you about this investment. It will NEVER go down. Yeah.... uh... not quite.

@MrKevinwg it matters when you're comparing mass starvation in the 30s US vs today, genius. The people in the depression weren't worried about a fucking job they were worried about finding a meal in the next town.

@DrBlood-cq2cm another thing is the "riot shields" that were picked up by companies with covid money (again printed money) and are now getting mass let go. They milked California for grants and now are shedding the dead weight and using moves to Ireland and Miami as the excuse. I just interviewed for a company moving to Florida for that reason. Oh yeah randomly getting a ton more interviews now that free money isn't falling from the sky.

@l.j.r.8448 The average worker at these big companies is useless and they're about to make that abundantly clear when they start cutting them just to survive. That is the vast majority of employees, especially new ones. If you think you're different than lets see how long you last.

@l.j.r.8448 Gee, does that have anything to do with your communication skills? Selective reader? Hyperfocus on the personal at the expense of the general discussion? How about responding to the other 90% of my comment.

At least this time it will stick and we won't be picking the printed money out of our spokes.
