It will not freeze, europe will be more like the north american west coast, which by the way, doesn't have warm water currents, all the opposite actually but it has mild winters thanks to the western air currents.
So this will make cities like Paris or London more like Vancouver, which is slightly colder and snowier than them, Scandinavia will be more like Alaska, with Sweden and finland getting considerably colder but Norway not changing much.
Eastern europe might get the hardest hit, Belarus could be like Saskatchewan or Alberta, which despite being very cold during winter, still livable, Calgary and Winnipeg are very cold and are big cities.
Europe will not be as continental as the east coast because both face their continental landmass in opposite directions.
