  1. You need to check your facts buddy. Japan has similar latitude to Italy , not ireland. And western canada is actually really mild at Ireland's latitude slightly colder in winter but mild compared to eastern Canada, Newfoundland is definitely cold but not unlivable, otherwise Finland wouldn't be a country. Victoria island is at 70N, which is much further north than Ireland, more comparable to northern Scandinavia or Siberia

  2. That's because north carolina has the opposite climate of northern California, both temperate in different ways. Norther california is cool Mediterranean so it gets most of its rain in winter, while North Carolina is Humid Subtropical with summer rain, Northern California almost never sees snow and rarely frost ,the Atlantic is colder in winter.
