It's from a book by Thomas Sowell, talking about how what we today consider Black Culture, was similar to Scots Irish culture in the South, and when African Slaves were freed, the cultures permeated and wove together. Fact is, African Americans don't act like Africans. It's a way to show that current Black Culture is not an inherent part of "Blackness" and to overcome the harmful antipathy against "White" pursuits like education, family, and law abidingness. Reality is that Blacks can succeed in America, if they do the things that lead to success. But a lot of Racial Identity is tied up in these self destructive behaviors, that Sowell, an African American Economist, argues aren't even inherently Black.

  8. It's probably just regional hobbyism. If you can win, why leave? I think most modern successionist movements are just dramatic pushbacks against federal overreach, which I think is coming to a head. But it will be resolved by electing state's righters, not a war.

  9. Hispanics and Latinos were in the Blue Coalition because of the Illegal Immigration Issue. The Leftys tried to build a coalition of every minority to beat the majority Conservative Whites. But the coalition was flawed since Blacks and Hispanics don't have much in common with LGBT or Feminism. And I think as the Illegal Immigration Issue becomes less, both because multiple Generations of Hispanics have been born in the US and are now Americans, as well as Mexico doing better, Hispanics have fled the Lefty Reservation. Hispanics were always culturally conservative, family oriented, and religious. And you can say similar things for East Asians who came to America. They are the most successful minorities in the US, and they don't want to be on the Lefty Reservation. So the Blue Coalition has failed.

I'm Mormon, and I heard that foundational Mormonism was more loosy goosy, kinda like a lot of new protestant churches at the time, but the death of Joseph Smith, the founder, as well our expulsion from the US, and a massive wave of English and German converts helped to turn it in a more conservative way. Also Brigham Young, Smith's successor, was a tough old bastard, which was what was needed to lead the way to Utah, which was outside the US and a desert wasteland at the time. The Mormons almost went to California, but wanted to live as far away from others as possible, due to fear of persecution, which is a Puritan trait after all. :D So it may not have started very Puritan like, but it became that way. And while I never had a problem with it, I do see how you're either in or out. In CA, I woke up at 5:30 before school to go to bible class, all through High School, and I served two years as a missionary. The Church asks a lot of you, so you're either in or out. :D

And Black people have been oppressed, by White Liberals, enabling abortion which is a genocide on Blacks, enabling drug use which holds them back, pushing for gun control which leaves Blacks defenseless and give pretext for a lot of black arrests, and demolishing the Black Family, which is an institutionalized destruction of the Black people. Look at every Democrat run city, with Police Chief, Mayor, City Council all Blue, and see how the Blacks suffer. But black people are told by the Dems that they are victims, they are children, they cannot make it on their own. Democrats are like controlling parents that make you scared to leave them. Hispanics and East Asians are already leaving the Reservation, all you have to lose are your chains.

  24. I agree with you. I think people can't make it in the West Coast anymore, do to bad politics, and especially in CA (I was born and raise in LA) the water issues. People right now are moving east, TX and UT were big ones, but like you say, the South, and I would even say potentially the Rust Best will be targets of opportunity. The Mississippi Basin is well watered and allows cheap transport if energy prices go too high.

  35. Foundry was dominant at the US Civil War. It didn't come up because of the World Wars. It did benefit, but if so, it would have just gone back to normal when Europe recovered. Hell, US could produce more before the World Wars than any single European Nation. Unions made US workers unprofitable, and US businesses gladly went to China, which is just across the Pacific from us. Globalization would have hurt regardless, and same with Europe's Recovery, but Unions added to that.

  37. The Rust Belt has good trade networks, according to Zeihan. The Mississippi and the Great Lakes. And Zeihan even mentioned in his new book that potential Global Warming could benefit the Rust Belt relative to other parts of the country. But I think that means the Central US, north to south, is the place to be. Potential to buy in on the ground floor.

  38. I think its happening right now. Between COVID, and ideas of election interference, states are enforcing their sovereign rights and taking power back from the Federal Government. Such a large and diverse country needs local leadership, because the Washington Elite don't represent their constituents.

  39. I think a lot of people are returning to some kind of religiousity, because it's the only way to stand up to SJW Marxism, which is an aggressive religion. Secular Humanism just gets owned by SJWs, so people are turning to traditional values to have a line in the sand.

  40. We are not on track to have a civil war. The divide in modern America is between the major cities and the rest of the country. Major cities have huge economies, are diverse, have lots of crime, and are lefty. The rest of the country is poorer, more conservative, and spread out which eases tensions. The cities can't fight the rest of the country, even though they contain about half the population, because they import everything they need to survive. Until now, they have also called the shots. But rather than the rightys succeeding, the tide is turning. The Leftys will howl, but they can't do much about it, except burn down their cities and maybe commit acts of terrorism. But it won't lead to an official war.

  41. What is there to unify over? We are currently in a battle over the heart of America, between the old establishment and the new populist reactionaries, both left and right. The old establishment has shown they can't deal with modern day problems, so we need a new paradigm. SJW and Trumpism are the new offerings, and its self evident which side will win out. But until then the establishment is gonna holler real long and loud.

  43. I think Mexico, at least the Border areas, will benefit from stronger integration with the US. My mom who is from Honduras, always wants the US to do more in the Central and South America, which I agree with. Why fight wars in the Middle East when we have the third world at home? :D

  52. I agree. When wars happen in other parts of the world, or famines or economic disasters, anyone who can comes to the US. And a lot of the time, that is the rich or smart and hardworking. Plus, people invest in the US, because it's a safe investment. The government won't interfere too much in your business or property, and you don't have to worry about wars or such, at least, not as much as the rest of the world.
