  1. I remember reading how the venerable Smithsonian Institute was so p.o.'d that "ignorant bicycle mechanics" rather than Professor Langley succeeded, that the Smithsonian refused to believe the Wrights made the first flights for decades! Their noses being so out of joint over it.
