That's a dewar. Holds refrigerated gas. Probably just venting due to being shaken, and pressure building, like when you shake 30lb R12 bottles to get the rest of the refrigerant out. No need to worry, except about asphyxiation.

Being from Pennsylvania, we use the emissions machine tailpipe probe to check for combustion gases in the cooling system. Just have to be quick to make sure that you don't suck up a quantity of coolant. You look like the chosen one in the shop. I held the same as a single-tech, and body combination tech, in a shop. Never a dull day. Happy New Year Ray, and remember, have a great day!π

You aren't living if you're not learning. Goal in life is to learn something new everyday. Your channel helps us to accomplish this!

We had to rebuild power and manual steering boxes in tech school as part of our final grade. Feeding the bearings back into the piston/gear assembly was the hardest thing to do. To get the end cap off, there's a hole in the case to insert a punch to push the snap ring out of its groove.

Ray, do you cycle the transmission through all of the ranges after adding fluid? I worked in a transmission shop early in my career, and we always cycled through the ranges. Gave a more accurate level reading. You'd be surprised how much a few low servos can hold. That way it's one and done. Shop is looking good! Best of luck, and have a great day!!

At 6'5", most mechanics are doing a swim move trying to grab the steering wheel, and adjust the seat in my vehicle. I'm sorry, I followed the "Don't move the seat rule for the first 6 months as a tech, couldn't get into most cars, and what do you do in the case of under dash work? 30 years and a bad back to show for it. Love your channel and it's content. Start my day with it. Reminds me of when I was a one man show at a body shop as the mechanic and combo person.

Good day to you, and Happy Easter Ray, and to the family. Where I live in Pennsylvania, we go to the transfer stations to dump. I've been to landfills in New Jersey, and my friend always picked up a few nails and screws. A quick tire check is a great idea. Have a great day, and enjoy your Easter!!π°π°π°π°

Nothing like an old floor jack handle on a half inch breaker bar to get the tight ones!!

The joys of working in a one man shop! Have a great day, and a great Easter!

Ray, I usually crack the bleeder to verify whether it's a hose or the caliper. With that said, I'd usually replace hose, caliper, pads and both rotors due to the heat, and flush brake system to remove overheated fluid. Covers your a$$. By the way, I use the prybar method too. You didn't damage that other caliper, the boot was ripped, and dirt destroyed the o ring. So no REEEEEE from me! Lol, have a great day!

And pack the pilot bearing. No need to have it seize up, and ruined the job.

Happy New Year to you and yours, Ray! May the New Year bring you happiness, and prosperity! And remember to have yourself a great day!

If my boss saw this video, I'd have,no job.

A word from my early carburetor days, stoichiometeric! A word a true technician knows the meaning of.π€

The little plastic plug is a plug for the opening for the dipstick tube while it's on the assembly line in the factory.

I used to do the S-10 V6's through the fenderwell. It made the job so much easier and faster.

Why no grease for the new pilot bearing, and a very light coating on the input splines? Makes the input shaft slide into the friction plate easier, and prevents pilot bearing seizure and faliure. Hope everything is ok with wife unit's van. Something simple. Remember to have day!

Ray, your trials and tribulations during the disassembly of the suspension and hub on the Ranger reminded me of my time working in a body shop as a combination person. Pulling apart a vehicle and cataloging what was salvageable was a chore, especially trying to save what the insurance said was good. Nice truck, good luck with the parts search, and remember to have a good day!

Did quite a few intake sets on the 3800 as a recall campaign.

As for the clunking noise from the driveshaft, check the rear straps that hold the universal caps in the yoke on the differential. They might be stretched, or loose, causing the caps to rock in the yoke. I ran into that on some Suburbans, before you tear the cover of the differential. And from one Ray to another, have yourself a great day!πΊπΈπͺπ§π§

The connections for the scanner are on the left inner fender. OBD1

The subframe to body bolt was also missing. I worked in a bodyshop in Philadelphia's Manayunk section, all hills. We saw many cars damaged and totalled after snowfall due to happy hour and nights out. Curbs and parking lot dividers aren't kind to the undercarriage at speed.

My sister lives in Melbourne and is a nurse, so she can't evacuate. They are prepped as well as they can be. Hopefully your business will come through with minimal damage. Praying for you and your family to be safe.ππ»ππ»ππ»ππΊπΈ

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, RAY!! Thank you for the videos and the gift of your time. May Santa be good to you and yours this Christmas. And remember to have yourself a great day.

Most published, least read book? Car owner's manual. That's why people don't know. They just get in, turn the key. 2nd, the Bible.

As us old wrench turners would say "Put hair around it"!

No provision for a pcv valve? That large vaccum port is for a pcv valve.

Ford used that power steering set up on the Mustang/Cougar, Torino, Fairlane, Comet, Falcon, during the 60's and 70's. The control valve was always a leak problem at the ball stud, and the hoses. Poor design.

When did you tighten the fan?

Ray, "Crisis is the cry of tyrants".- James Monroe Yes, I've driven "3 on the tree". They're very hard to shift with bad column bushings.

Still using the same crappy regulator design that they used since day one on the MPV. Trick is to remove glass first, and put it in last. I owned a first generation MPV. They sell a repair part, the drive gear, which moves the nylon balls on the cable. Saves big money.

The 4L60/80 are the electronic versions of the TH400 transmission. Had the pleasure of working on both, and all of the pre electronic transmissions from the other automakers.

Yellow jackets are my nemesis. Im highly allergic. In the summer, a can of starting fluid was a companion when I went to get a customers' car, especially if it was on the lot for a few days. I kept an Epi pen in my toolbox.

I had a 68' Cougar with a 390, and you had to lift the engine to do the 2 center spark plugs on each side. It was even more fun with power brakes. Shock tower and master cylinder in the way. Wobbly bits and extensions to the rescue! Have a great day, Ray!

Β @steveb6103Β Worked with liquid O2 for 20 years.

Β @etherealrose2139Β using R12 as an example. You can raise the pressure inside the bottle by moving the liquid onto the warmer surfaces and turning it into a gas.

You remind me of myself with the fact that you do not like to get grimy and dirty if at all possible. People couldn't believe that I was a tech because my hands and nails were clean, and my uniforms were pretty much in good shape. You don't have to be dirty, to be a tech. And you were fighting my biggest peeve, falling dirt/rust.

That car is an onion. The more you peel off the worse it gets.

Backfiring Holley carburetors usually blow the power valve which causes Rich running and poor performance. I used to rebuild carburetors and that was a main culprit with Holleys. Q-jets are very good carburetors no one gives them a chance

How about an alignment rack? Unless you don't plan on doing much front suspension work.

Happy Easter, Ray, to you and your family. And to all the viewers and members.

The developer of the product you are trying better watch out, they might catch "Clintonitis".

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Also wish Dave a Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for the video, I'm under the weather, and your video is the bright spot of my day. Turkey noodle soup for me! π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦
