Comments by "Clint Holmes" (@clintholmes2061) on "Why Former Gov Officials are Afraid to Speak Out against the US" video.
He's talking about family and loved ones and you are labeling it "material things" like he's talking about a car. It's dumb AF.

@beastmode6609 "selfish in order to protect ourselves and family" If you want to say that it's selfish to want to protect yourself that makes sense but isn't wanting to protect your family the exact opposite of being selfish?

@magpie3794 And stop acting like the consequences for standing up against the machine aren't DEVESTATING.

@magpie3794 "officials need to speak up, or quit when they see something wrong" We don't disagree about this. We disagree about how to go about it. We should be honest about what this means instead of pretending that everything tends to be just fine for the people that do. "What is happening to Snowden and especially Assange is horrific." Yeah. It is. That's the norm for people that speak up. So maybe let's not lie about it and say shit like, "Time to grow a spine." as if their spines aren't likley to be broken otherwise you are no better than the people using ukraine as cannon fodder. You are just asking people to sacrifice themself for YOUR political goals and you aren't being honest about what that means for them.

@beastmode6609 "doing the right thing" You are conflating completely different things. I wasn't talking about "doing the right thing" and neither were you until now. That's a different topic. We were talking about being "selfish" versus altruism. "doing the right thing...affects your family's quality of life." Let's say your idea of "doing the right thing" didn't just "affect their quality of life" but literally causes someone you love to LOSE their life. Are you sure you are really doing the right thing?

@cyyy He's looking at the world and he's pissed which is understandable. But he's blaming peasants as if it's their fault things are the way they are and he's forgetting that they too are VICTIMS.
1
@cyyy Meh. He's projecting evil on them ("waste of humans") and I don't think the OP is actually evil (a "waste of a human").
1
@magpie3794 "Time to grow a spine." Look man I'm all for people being heroes like snowden and assange but let's not act like anyone and everyone should be willing or have to make the sacrifices that those heroes made. Stop victim blaming FFS.
1
@cyyy "how do you know that liberal?" How do you know I'm a "liberal?" "is he a victim too?" If you aren't sitting on top being part of the one percent then YES... they ABSOLUTELY ARE a victim. Even useful idiots who tell you to vote for complete POS can be victims even while they say the dumbest shit.

"sense of justice... Waste of humans" The problem I have with this mentality is that it's the same type of mentality that thinks Ukrainians should be falling on their sword and fighting to the last man against russia because of a "sense of justice." And if you aren't doing that you are a "waste of a human" because they aren't fighting how you think they should. When in reality prioritizing peace is very human. You act like it's all black and white when the world is grey. You act like people shouldn't be willing to sacrifice anything for peace. Are you living by these values? What are you sacrificing for your sense of justice? Are you snowden or assange? I suspect not. I suspect you aren't really sacrificing anything while thinking everyone else should be willing to sacrifice it all.

@magpie3794 "I’m for peace" The only reason I even know this reply is there is because I can see it in my notifications. It says this thread has 16 replies but I can only see like 12 when I expand it out. Censorship sucks. If I haven't responded to someone here it's only because I can't see it.

@UnstoppableYaris "is the video.." Am I addressing the video or am I addressing a person's specific quotes from this thread? I straight up haven't even ATTEMPTED to comment about ANYTHING in this video. "Does someone help you tie your shoes in the morning or is it Velcro?" Since this seems like projection I'll answer my own rhetorical question for you... I'm directly addressing a person's comment and not addressing this video. If you guys are trying to destroy the last little bit of faith I have in humanity it's working.

@UnstoppableYaris This is suppose to be where the smart people hang out. Why are you here?
1
@UnstoppableYaris What have you sacrificed for your sense of justice? I'd hate to think it's just virtue signaling so that you can think you are better than that human waste.
1
@UnstoppableYaris "felt it was “safe” for them to show support for the common cause." Why did they think that? Did they have justified concerns or are you just dismissing them out of hand because you don't agree with their actions? "Do you think it’s about the money, or about the fact that people sat quietly and let the “thieves” operate with impunity?" I do my best to try and answer people's questions honestly but I'm honestly confused about what exactly you are asking me. Are you really asking me to speak about people that I've never met and don't exactly understand their situation outside of your biased cliffsnotes? "what have you done lately beside misconstruing others’ comments on YouTube?" Before I answer that I'm curious to know what EXACTLY you think I should be doing?
1
@UnstoppableYaris "misconstruing others’ comments on YouTube?" I'm also curious to know how you think I'm misconstruing anyone's statements. Are you sure you aren't just triggered by what I'm saying?
1
@UnstoppableYaris "cost me over $30K out of my own pocket." Let's say you didn't have 30K to lose. What then?
1
@UnstoppableYaris I concede I don't really care what you think at this point. You destroy my faith in humanity as much as any "waste of human" out there.
