It is the best way to get his message out and if you doubt this examine the coverage given to Jill Stein. Running in the party is the only way to reform the party. The EC and all the other ways the system is rigged make it all but impossible for a 3rd party candidate to win at the national level. Millions of brainwashed sheep will be voting for the democrat in the presidential election regardless of the persons name and it makes sense to try to get those votes. It would split left leaning thinkers. All of these are reasonable answers to what I think is a rather obvious question. Is it fair? Nope. Don't get me wrong I'd dance a jig if the party blinked out of existence but that sad reality is that the party isn't going anywhere anytime soon even if the world would be a better place if they didn't exist. Why exactly do you think we were close? I happily voted for Jill Stein and would do the exact same thing if the same election were today (in a swing state) but the fact of the matter is that she got around 1 percent of the vote against 2 of the most despised people in the country. The entire system is rigged, not just the parties, against progressives.
