@tankie9997 If you are pro-censorship you are ONLY on the right. It's a right wing position.

@tankie9997 "all authoritarianism is left wing' ideologues." Prove me wrong then. What is an example of left wing authoritarianism? And good luck with that.
2
@tankie9997 "left wing authoritarianism" is an oxymoron.
2
@OutSideTheBoxFormat "Give se examples were of people on the right calling for censorship." All of them. Because censorship is the innately right wing position. "The only ones I've seen protest free speech are on the left." If you protest free speech you are not on the left.
2
@OutSideTheBoxFormat That's not an argument.

@tankie9997 "For instance the USSR banned religion publicly" An action like this is, by it's nature, right wing authoritarianism. "does that make the USSR right wing?" When it comes to that specific issue. Yes. It clearly does make them right wing. "All these issues..." I'm not talking about all issues. I'm talking about one specific issue. And if you take a certain position on that specific topic then you are taking the right wing position and are only wrongfully called left wing when it comes to that. Hypothetically they could be "left wing" on everything else but more likely they are right wing when it comes to all the other stuff as well. But again, we aren't talking about all that other stuff. We are talking about one specific topic.

@tankie9997 Regarding, "you've redefined left wing to mean non authoritarian" More like I'm pointing out that authoritarian is right wing by definition. The problem with your framing is that you want to act like the "left/right" labels are given before committing actions. For example I consider myself a "progressive" and "leftist." But those labels become meaningless if my actions are that of a "conservative" and "righty." Joe Biden has said BS in the past like he is the "most progressive." That doesn't mean he's actually on the left. Being on the left is determined by your actions regardless of how you want to label yourself. My point being that no matter how much you want to act like a "leftist" can be "pro-censorship" they cannot. At least not in the context of which you are speaking. Being pro censorship and being authoritarian are innately right wing. Those are the types of things that actually determine if you are on the left or the right. Actions speak louder than words.
1
@OutSideTheBoxFormat To be clear there are plenty of people who PRETEND to be on the left who support censorship. But actions speak louder than words.
1
@OutSideTheBoxFormat At least you are trying to make an argument even if it's terrible. Good for you.
1
@OutSideTheBoxFormat "Waiting for those examples for your claim." All of them is an answer to your question.

@mathurex211 "what do you call censorship of right-wing voices? Right-wing?" Yes. It's right wing. "You have to admit you're being hyperbolic and flagrantly biased with your definitions." I'm not. "left" and "right" are not how you feel about yourself. It's where you fall on the spectrum. Censorship is on the right and freedom of speech is on the left. It's not arbitrary.
1
@mathurex211 Are you worried that you are a "leftist" on some things? Don't be.
1
@mathurex211 Regarding, "Clarify your definitions of left-wing and right-wing." It depends on the topic. If the topic is war and peace then peace is the left and war is the right. "Are you trying to pose that left-wing governments that engage in censorship are engaging in right-wing ideology?" Pretty much. I'm saying that governments who engage in censorship are clearly engaging in right-wing ideology on that topic. And that you are wrongfully calling them "left-wing." " left-wing governments." A truly left wing government would support peace, protecting the environment, universal health care, a living wage, and the like. Those are "left wing" positions.
1
@mathurex211 "Also define authoritarianism. And define objectivism while you're at it." Open a dictionary. Authoritarianism, "the enforcement or advocacy of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom" That's right wing.
1
@mathurex211 "Do you believe left-wing governments can promote capitalism?" No. Capitalism is the right. Socialism is the left. At least when this is the topic economic theory. If you are capitalist you are not "left-wing." You are right wing.
1
@mathurex211 "Do you believe the Soviet Union was headed by a right-wing government?" Yes.
1
@mathurex211 Regarding, "the soviet Uniom was a socialist state." It's really not. Don't be fooled by a label and name. "You just said socialism was the left." The soviet union did not have anything that resembles true socialism. It was a bastardized version at best.
1
@mathurex211 "thus leftwing, but socially conservative?" Of course people can be different things on different topics. Of course I could be "left wing" because I'm a socialist when the topic is economic theory. And I could be "right wing" on a completely different topic. Nobody is just one thing or the other. But they are just one thing or the other on INDIVIDUAL topics. Which is again what I'm addressing. If the topic is say, freedom of speech versus censorship well there is a clear side that is the left side and the other side is the right side. And I do concede there is a "spectrum" on the topic. But not a very important one. For example when the topic is yelling "fire" in a crowded theater I'm against it. Still I think I can only be said to be on the "left" for the topic. I'm kinda mad I got into this conversation. "left versus right" is not the important conversation. The important conversation is where do you stand on individual topics. EVERYONE should be for free speech. NOONE should be for censorship. The rest is really just unimportant details and I'm honestly bored of this conversation.

@mathurex211 "Don't you see you're running away." If that's what you choose to think I don't care. In reality I don't have unlimited time and energy that I feel like using to address your wall of text or anything else at this point. I've said what I want to say. Get it or don't. I don't care anymore.

@tankie9997 "I'll leave it there." I should have done that a long time ago myself.
