  9. Sugar, labels are how the lazy decide who is for what. They think that if someone has a label like liberal, progressive, conservative, democrat, republican or other they know all they need to know about that person without bothering to think deeply or with nuance about that person. The powers that be use them to try and mislead about the positions of people. They use them to try and demonize large groups of people and ideas (socialists for example). Don't get me wrong, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon and they do have purpose to very small degree. But that purpose is wildly overblown by the corporate media and the topic of labels are deliberately misused by people trying to derail a far more constructive conversation.... aka specific policy. I label myself a progressive. But how much can that really tell you? That label might mean something completely different to me then it does you. Or I might be intentionally trying to deceive you about my beliefs by using it. Ultimately the only way to really know about the important shit a person thinks is to dig far deeper then a fucking label and to study a persons actions.

No. They absolutely do not unless they are accompanied by more information. And seeing as how you need that other information to have any understanding how accurate the label being used is then the label is ultimately superfluous. And if there is anything to be learned from this is that the "democratic" party is a fucking dumpster fire that has no interest in passing progressive policy. They had a fucking supermajority and they used it to pass a Republican health care plan.
