  81. I listen to Jill Stein but I've never heard her make promises. Donald Trump for example and contrast did say that he WOULD build a wall and that Mexico WOULD pay for it. Those are examples of promises that are never going to happen. Jill Stein on the other hand presents a vision for America of how she sees it. She gives you an idea of what she wants, what she considers to be priorities, but that isn't to be mistaken with promises or the idea that just because these are things she wants she promises to get them done. I love Jill Stein and will be voting for her but I have no illusions about what she would be able to get done with the Congress we have. I do not think this is an argument for not voting for Jill Stein but rather for voting against the current congress who are not willing to work for Jill's vision and priorities of: universal health care, accessible education, criminal justice reform, protecting the planet, addressing poverty, a just economy, freedom and equality and more. Lets contrast that to the little bit the current congress and president get done when they actually work together... the TPP. I'd take gridlock and nothing getting done as opposed to the country taking steps backward like this, and that is what will happen with either Hillary or Trump as president. Lastly the biggest power a President has for unilateral reform is as commander in chief. Unlike the 2 major candidates she could be trusted to reign in the military industrialized complex in that is completely out of control. She can be trusted to not get us into new wars and congress has little to do with it.

They literally are only willing to get things done when they are the wrong things. Jill Stein would be the best President because 1) she would continue to give exposure the real important issues facing this country... issues the 2 major parties refuse to talk about and 2) because she is the only candidate running who can be trusted to not make things worse by working with congress. For example the TPP is an example of an area where Republicans and Democrats agree and it would be terrible for Americans (but great for corporations and big money donors). Jill is the only candidate running who could be trusted to do the right thing on this issue. 3) the biggest power of the President is as commander in chief. That is an area that has much less to do with congress and again Jill is the only candidate to do the right thing when it comes to foreign policy. The fact that she wouldn't be able to find much common ground with congress doesn't suggest to me that Jill shouldn't be President. It suggests to me that we need a new congress. One that actually represents the people.

To do this they would be required to only vote for the candidate who gets the most pledged delegates. That way they would not be tipping the scale but rather making sure that there isn't a contested convention which can get very messy.   463. They are a way of preventing a contested convention (note-this is not the reason the DNC wants to keep them). To win the nomination you need a majority of delegates (the most is not good enough). Superdelegates are a way of making sure the candidate who has the most support (delegates) has a majority of delegates. I would be fine keeping them as long as they are required to vote for whoever has the most delegates. That way they are supporting the will of the people rather than fucking with it (like they do now). Don't expect the DNC to do anything like this because the only good reason for keeping them is not why they want to keep them.

  475. To all those people that say there is no reason for superdelegates you are wrong. There is exactly one good reason and that is to prevent a contested convention. To win the nomination you need a majority of delegates and when more than 2 candidates run (which is essentially always) it is very possible that the person getting the most delegates does not get a majority of delegates and that opens the door for chaos and infighting that no party wants. Superdelegates is a way to stop this. All that said superdelegates are a fucking joke because, let's be real, THAT IS NOT WHY THE DNC LOVES THEM. That is not the primary reason they are there. There are there to try to influence voters. They are there to try and tip the scale from the very start. Hillary Clinton had 400 delegates before any of us peasants were allowed to vote because that was their not so subtle way of telling us who was suppose to win. People want to vote for the winner. People want their "votes to matter." And the DNC sent a clear message early that the only way to be on the winning side from the start and have a meaningful vote was going to be by voting for Clinton. Even after Sanders was up in pledged delegates early the corporate media happily put all delegates up together to make it appear as if Hillary Clinton was fucking crushing him. That is why they are there. I could deal with superdelegates sticking around because of, like I pointed out, the only good reason for them to exist. But then superdelegates, should they stay, should need to be required to vote for the candidate who gets the most pledged delegates. Period. The DNC would never agree to such a thing because the reason they are around is not for the only legit reason they should exist.

The party has a certain amount of self-interest. They are only going to cheat as much as they think it helps them. Let's say Sanders gets the most pledged delegates and they didn't vote for him. Not only would that be an easy way to insure they lost the general election, but that would be an easy way to implode the party on a national level. The rigging the party and insiders conducted during 2016 was considered to be a net gain at the time. They didn't think they were going to get caught (thank you wikileaks), and they thought their inferior candidate (compared to Sanders in the general) was still going to win. Even BS superdelegates would likely have (but maybe not I concede) switched sides to Sanders had he gotten the most pledged delegates. The biggest problem about them is that they are allowed to influence the campaign from the very start by declaring the allegiance to frame the election for the candidate they prefer.

And for the people complaining about russiagate I wish they would have spent more of their efforts pointing out that even if russia did what was being claimed the US does the exact same shit which is again another reason why it isn't unreasonable to think russia did the same shit.

Superdelegates stay but they are required to vote for the candidate who has the most pledged delegates. Would you really have a problem with them then? Because I wouldn't and I fucking hate them. And do you agree that it is in the party's interests to avoid a contested convention? Because there definitely is.   806. Nabuto the idea is that it would make it illegal for Wall Street or anyone else from giving them money that they could keep for themselves. They work for us so we pay them. They do not work for Wall Street now or ever (in theory) and we ban them from bribing them... err paying them. It is disgusting how we allow our politicians to get rich as fuck from their political influence. This is one possible solution to prevent that going forward. Then all we would need to do is stop them from bribing politicians while they are running their campaigns.
