I would prefer it if we, the taxpayer, would pay them well for the rest of their life and they not be allowed to make any money that they could keep in other ways. They can make their speeches still if they want but all the money they would get paid must go to charity. I think that tax money would be well spent to prevent us from getting fucked over in other ways.

Jerry regarding, "look up hillary's speaking fees" He asked for a popular senator. But it has nothing to do with popularity.... they get paid based on their amount of influence in government (or possible future influence) and how much of their soul they are willing to sell.

Just recently Hillary Clinton rightfully faced backlash for her wall street speeches where she confessed to have a public and private positions. Corruption is fucking everywhere and smart people talk about it everywhere. Stupid people try to deflect from it by talking about anything or everything else. Hillary Clinton would blame sexism. Donald Trump would blame fake news. You blame racism. You want to talk about anything and everything other than the issue at hand. And the issue at hand is that there is something very, very wrong with Obama getting paid sick amounts of money from the same people he should have had put in prison but didn't. Some of us are going to talk about it whether you like it or not and we are not going to change the conversation because you can't deal with the fact that Obama is corrupt just like the rest of them. Nabuto the idea is that it would make it illegal for Wall Street or anyone else from giving them money that they could keep for themselves. They work for us so we pay them. They do not work for Wall Street now or ever (in theory) and we ban them from bribing them... err paying them. It is disgusting how we allow our politicians to get rich as fuck from their political influence. This is one possible solution to prevent that going forward. Then all we would need to do is stop them from bribing politicians while they are running their campaigns.

Sandy regarding, "not realistic," We have a Republican President, the Republicans control the house and senate, and the democrats are all corporation sellouts. Nothing that is worth a shit is realistic these days, in part because these "representatives" are happy to use the revolving door to make themselves rich. Regarding, "they make millions" Give ex presidents 1 mil a year and if they are not happy with that then they can go ahead and not run for the job going forward. Regarding, "citizens united is the issue" This is a huge part of the problem but it is hardly the only problem with money in politics. Money in politics was a problem before this... after it is worse thou. Sandy regarding, "public financing" We have it... just not the way it should be. Regarding, "2 mos campaign" I think campaign season is way too long but this sounds like an over-correction in my opinion. That said we definitely agree it is too long currently. Regarding, "rank choice voting" This is a no brainer and is desperately needed. I'm not sure it is any more realistic that what I proposed... again you have to consider the powers that be these days. They are not going to let anything good like this happen either. Still I am happy you mentioned it and I'm not going to call it unrealistic other than to make a point about your statement of me being unrealistic.
