  9. I very much agree that shame is ineffectual at getting people to vote for something but think that shame can prevent people from voting for something. For example I think that shaming a Trump supporter isn't likely to make them vote FOR someone else but it does, I think, have an effect to prevent them from supporting him or someone like them going forward when done correctly. That said this is not a great method and is hardly the only way to sway opinion but humans are a social species who are very capable of feel shame.... especially when that shame is justified. I voted for Obama. I feel shame for it and I'm going to try and never do something like that again.

I could for example vote in the democratic primary for the most progressive person I can find to help shape the party and make them better and I could vote for someone else in the general if I want. Regarding, "you need to concentrate your energy on one." You care too much about parties. Vote for good people. People who share your values and concerns regardless of the party they are in or you are doing the exact same thing as republicans and democrats who blindly support their party.

  14. The notion that wanting diversity is being "anti-white" is absurd. The bottom line is that we are a diverse nation... and our representatives should reflect that. If our representatives where disproportionately minorities he would still call for diversity. And that wouldn't be "anti-minority" either. I agree that first and foremost policy is what is important. I'm not about to vote for Palin because she's a women or Ben Carson because he's black. But our representatives should represent the people, and not only in policy but in backgrounds. It makes them better able to understand us in a way a non diversified group can't.

  15. Don't do it if you don't have the money but he has a right to try and make a living doing what he does. I'm sure he isn't trying punish you but rather he is just trying to do something to thank his patrons. Don't overthink it and don't spend the money if you don't have it to give.

  16. Actually he, as I do, support an all fronts approach. I support efforts of a hostile takeover of the party and I support building alternative parties if hostile takeover isn't successful. (or even if hostile takeover does succeed I STILL want viable alternatives) I support progressives. That is the important label to me. I don't care if someone is a democrat, green, independent or other. I'm happily not a registered democrat but I'm also fortunate to live in a state with an open primary. If I had to I'd register at least long enough to vote in the "democratic" primary. Leave room for nuance in your thinking. Be willing to support the guy getting fucked over in the audio even if he has the audacity to run as a democrat. That is very different that being willing to support corporate dems. Nobody is saying you should be doing that.
