A lot of people who are not blamed for global warming I think still hold responsibility. A lot of people think city folk are more to blame but this isn't always the case. I had a conversation with somebody who believed living off grid was better environmentally, he used a cord of wood over winter, he believed that the co2 was neutral and while it's not, he was ignoring the energy. His one cord of wood has 25 million btu's which converts to 7326.78kwh which is around 2.5 years of my electrical usage. A lot of people burn wood, dung or charcoal in the third world so they are putting huge amounts of energy into the system.
The person living off grid also drove further and with one tank of diesel having 636kilowatts of energy in it and I walk to the shop, his living off grid was immensely more polluting then myself living in the city.
If there is a supply shock it is going to be a supply shock that will mean the first world will suffer more, in 80 years Africa will be almost half the world population, soon they may see dollars as worthless and food won't be exported. The supply shock and the debt that will become worthless could mean much more change for first world people who think money can buy their way out. If people in the country have food, I don't think they will feel poor, of course not all third world or farmers are going to be able to survive in parts of the world, maybe poverty level is a better way to put it. @DrVictorVasconcelos
