Between 6 and 7 times the amount of men have been killed in Ukraine the ten years this has been going than all of the men lost by Australia and New Zealand, in 1st and 2nd wars, combined. Gallipoli is seen as one of the top five worst military operations, other than celebrating war in this country and the myths/propaganda that go with it, and I don't mean to be rude but not having ANZAC day, could also be a good thing if we want to stop perpetual war.

We are currently supporting and part of a war where more men are dying than both wars put together and while people call war honourable or that we should show respect and now it doesn't matter? You are close to being drafted do you think that's irrelevant?

I don't think when they fought that they fought for people to not be allowed to disagree. I have a problem with Anzac as it celebrates war and we have lived off the myths of the two wars for over a hundred years and by continuing the tradition it fools young people into believing the military these days is anything honourable. The 1st world war was supposed to be "The great war for civilisation" as was written on the back of the service medal. My Great Great Grandfather's wouldn't think people should leave the country if they disagree so why do you get to say it?

@obiemichaels9675 Whatever you want to call it, if you are hung up on a word you shouldn't be on public forums and why wouldn'nt I respond? If I didn't know what I was talking about then shouldn't that mean education, that you supplied none of, should be coming from you. Anzac day is a day of rememberance that children see as us respecting them , they get a day off and then people with their paid day off work, they might go fishing, or anything else they might enjoy, so the question is did you enkoy anzac day, did you enjoy the freedom of the day or did you sit in mournful silence? Being able to write on a public forum without being told to keep quiet is probably one of the things they fought for ay? We have survived off myths of heroism for over a hundred years while we use oil brown people have been killed over while we still "celebrate" war that has nothing to do with today's issues.

@getstuffed2391 How did you pay your respects on that day? Did you enjoy the public holiday or was it mournful silence? It didn't ensure our freedom at all. I know what the day is supposed to be for but when will it end, will we still celebrate in a hundred years? It's a propaganda day, it supports people thinking the army is in any way honourable, for since the end of the 2nd world war there has been 50 times what we lost caused by the USA. We have a day of propaganda and we teach children that war, is a direction, if we want to talk honour then not killing people for resources because that's what the US's push to invade 7 countries, for oil, is all about now so while you might think there was pride and honour in the military one time, that's fine but teaching children myths of honour is the least thing honourable moving forward imo.

PS The lack of honour at the moment is because the reality is warmongering has just been for resources and people are waking up to that fact. Plus what should the adf do during emergencies, nothing, same as what they were doing before? We pay them, so why not but that would mean they are almost as honourable as the SES, at least they do it to help, by choice.

@obiemichaels9675 I'm not contradicting myself, I'm trying to make it easier for you to understand and I seem to have failed at that. I don't care if you have served, it means nothing to my point, except showing you might have bias instead of being able to have a conversation relating to the point made, ie it's not about you.

PS YOU don't think mentioning honour etc on anzac day regarding war brings any glory? Therefore we do glorify war don't we? When did I say it was irrelevant, I just think the opposing country that we invaded feel the same way so yes in a way war is irrelevant but todays world and possibly all the way along it has been about resources so why not come out and say it. It's probably one of the reasons so many military commit suicide is because they realise what they have really been about, under the guise of heroism which you say we don't glorify.

Now you want to rage quit because you can't discuss points because of your bias, the point is we celebrate war as if it was a good thing and we still live off myths while people are getting nlown up, for profit, then you like to say you are fighting for honour and what's right, yet ignore the reality of today, all I'm asking is you get past yourself and one word, if you want to glorify war, go for it, but we have had thousands of years of it and your experience is nothing new, I'm trying to say glorifying war, is something we should look at carefully, especially for children.

@obiemichaels9675 Oh if only you had looked up the word celebrate in a dictionary before you were wrong the fourth time about it. Look I get it, you think if there was nothing moral about service because all countries have armies and they can't all be moral heroes, yet somehow they all think the same thing then maybe service or glorifying war, just for war's sake might not be the plan for the future and if that's correct then maybe I'm wrong insulting people instead of actually trying to explore the problem of war and associating that with honour integrity and you think maybe it is wrong to blow people up for oil or to join the army to kill people, so I can get a trade. I get it you think because I believe all the myths around what heroism means and society supports war then I must be right...sorry, all you've done is show your complete failure of English and insult's, at least your understanding and behaviour and your ability to explore an issue is insulting, so you are part way there uh?
