Every single dollar is debt based, paying down the debt literally removes money from society. People keep getting govt debt and personal debt confused. Govt is supposed to be the in the negative, that is how people get money and stay in the positive. Until people understand debt is what we call money then they won't understand the implications and that inflation is only an increase in the money supply/ debt. If 20% of the supposed savings are injected back into the economy and taxes etc will take it out, this is not like a business, no govt is to be run like a business, unless you know of a business that prints its own money. If all debt were paid back there would be no money in the system.

@KimThomas-vp4vm As all new debt is new money, do they take credit for adding money to the nation? All housing loans are new debt and new money, do they take responsibility for people getting pay rises? As long as you understand debt is money should people who add new money be applauded or criticised, and if criticised, why?

@mikehayne538 As we are a debt based society currently, how will taking the concept of new money out of entering the system work if there are no mortgages or rent to pay back the loans?

@tomasina10 Free housing and "all this debt" what free housing are you assuming and I sure wish people would realise we are a debt based society, if you say one thing, there is all this debt around then you are saying " all this money around" One can not exist without the other. Thomas Jefferson has zero experience with a debt based system like we have so stop quoting him and understand money as we know it. Free housing would mean less debt overall as costs would come down.
