Imagine you live in Ukr, to them 2 years means another 500,000 dead, anybody who is idiotic enough to think more time is good for Ukr must not realise this has been going on ten years, Ukr had 8 years putting in defences, those front lines are Ru;s rear lines now. 2 years of more of the same is a nightmare for ordinary Ukr's, 2 years for any ru's is at least a time frame that if improved upon will make P look good.
