  1. 20% of our energy is electricity, if we stopped working, driving and supplied people shelter, food and medical care for free, add 5% for the people who grow our food, 5% for food transport, emergency services and round up another 10% and we would drop our emissions 60% just by telling people to stay home/local. Wouldn't think that would be a hard sell. Of course this changes the economic system but it would raise general wellbeing if we could do that for everybody on the planet, we consumed 3000 calories per person last year, while people starve to death and record amounts of obesity. We are evolved primates and just to make primates happy ain't hard.

All this is good, as long as it is local, a normal 60 litre tank of diesel holds the equivalent energy of 2.6 months of electricity where I live. 20% of our total energy is electricity, add another 20% for emergency and those that grow our food, quit work and if we all stayed home/local, we could drop our emissions 60% overnight. @VidaNueva1
