HA! See when you talk about ignorance just know there are more fingers pointing back at you on this one ok... So what you are saying because since 1949 USA imported more than it exported except for ONE year while the whole time we still occupy a third of Syria, somehow disproves my point? It doesn't , it actually makes it better for me. Here you are calling people ignorant all the while people ARE being killed and you say "oh we have more than we need anyway, the rest we are just doing for profit" I mean that's a pretty poor argument that you are making there, that makes the 4-5 million dead people USA has caused in the last two decades even worse right?
Next, I'd educate yourself before you call people ignorant, it doesn't take away from the fact we still occupy Syria and still kill Syrians, nevertheless, what you have to educate yourself on is what type of oil it is that USA has, USA has to combine oils, which is why there are imports, they are vitally important because without them society stops, just because there was a lot of asphalt going to canada doesn't mean bpd of exported oil products is high in any meaningful way. USA can't survive without foreign oil, and that's been the truth since plastics became a way of life.
Nate Hagens is a good resource for educating oneself about the different oils and what we can get from them, : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-zYjcsLE_E @Andrew-kz5ew
