@PopescuSorin Sounds like Romania already scooped up the cream.

@r8rgtrs Yes it should. Countries bordering the EU are a priority. Western political and economic model has proven itself to be superior to alternatives. Democratic countries need to cooperate and stand up to authoritarian regimes. Greetings from eastern EU.

It's our communist generation causing those problems. It simply needs to die out.
2
It was the old Romanian communist generation that did that damage. Same elsewhere in eastern EU. I don't buy this bs about blaming west for it or leaving the EU. First this generation was building a failed system and then looted what they could. Now they want to do more damage by destroying the EU. They are totally untrustworthy!

@Pikaling3408 Unfortunately the old communist generation did so much damage its questionable if it makes sense for any skilled person remain there. It's not going to recover sooner than in 50 years and why waste one's life.

Agreed!

The old communist generation still holds too much influence in eastern EU. Further major enlargement is therefore out of question. It needs to die out before there can be new major wave of enlargement. It's also time for the EU to sort out undisciplined countries like Poland and Hungary.

@bertrecht913 That's Russian agenda to disintegrate the EU. It seems you have been reading their propaganda outlets for too long. 21th century needs close cooperation of European countries in the form of the EU with close partnership with the UK, US, Canada, Australia.

But still the EU should promote democracy. Possibly some kind of arrangements are needed so they do not need to join but still must uphold democratic standards. Free trade with the EU should not be for free.

In eastern EU the communist generation needs to die out. They are a lost case. I agree that internal reforms are needed before taking in more members.

Because the EU needs to sort out Hungary and Poland first.

People shouldn't surrender to intimidation and aggression from their big neighbor.

@rogerdarthwell5393 Russia already has such bases. Other countries have the same right. If you have no ill intentions there is nothing to fear. But the problem is Russia is very hard to trust given its recent track record in Ukraine and Georgia.

Of course not, there is a process for joining the EU and country needs live up to expectations for longer than one election term. The EU also needs a reform of its decision mechanism to punish disobedient countries breaking EU agreements more effectively before admitting any new members.
