Willingness to defend your country is not related to liberalism. On the contrary it is pro-Kremlin folks who are the biggest opponents of military spending as if preparing the region for new Russian occupation. These people are far right conservatives, not liberals.

@TheArctofireHD It may come as a shock to you but you're the problem. The West is so successful because it is more liberal than the rest of the world. Eastern Europe has been too conservative historically which lead to the region lagging behind in development. It is essential for Eastern Europe to learn English, travel and evolve culturally. That's why we joined the EU and it is now our fate. Most of your policies are totally wrong. 21th century is about the West cooperating closely and cultures coming closer. Conservatism = backwardness. Most conservative countries are also very backward - Afghanistan, Iran, Russia. That's not the club we want to learn from. Most conservatives in the West don't seem to realize they are the problem.

That narrative is promoted mainly in fascist circles.

Not only that. But the pensioners are going to vote for whoever provides them with good pensions, regardless of state debt, exacerbating the problem with populism to the point there will be zero investments in infrastructure as infrastructure doesn't yield votes as pensions do. Opposition governments will no longer be able to turn the boat. Czech Republic is on the path to Orban style populism, just a few years later.

These people lived in Russia for a long time and were brainwashed by state propaganda. It's really hard to find a Russian on the internet who would align with Western view on the war. Most of the time they just repeat official Kremlin propaganda. Immigration of people with such views became undesirable given Russia is a threat to the region. They do not want people who support Russian form of fascism.

@weetbix4497 Nope, the problem is cultural, it's too conservative. It will never prosper.

Nope, those countries are culturally too backward. They are poor not by chance, they were underdeveloped already 100 years ago. Same problem as developing countries. Their cultures are based on values that make them uncompetitive.

@xianxiaemperor1438 Voting in spineless, corrupt and populist politicians, tolerating corruption in the society, driving the skilled workers out, too slow to innovate, thus always lagging behind. Too conservative to change anything. Conservative countries are inevitable the most backward places. Such countries will never prosper.

@TheTeodorsoldierabvb I'm absolutely certain Bulgarians like you would cheer Russian army invading Bulgaria and would welcome "liberation" from NATO / EU as it's the only way these people can ever get into power. They wouldn't hesitate to sabotage defense of the country. These people exist in every Eastern EU country and tend to vote for left/right wing extremists.

@Bianca268 The UK is still the best choice for highly skilled workers in Europe due to opportunities. Small 5-10mil countries in the EU have very few opportunities. Once you reach high seniority the job market is very small. In the UK you have much more opportunities but you will have to compete with 50-100 candidates for a single place. I'm currently in the process of moving to the UK.

It makes more sense for Europeans to establish startups in the US rather than EU because of large single market and language. Once you're ahead it's very difficult to catch up for competitors 2-3 years later.

Not true at all. Try finding a job at international company in those places that is innovative, well paid and doesn't have the primary site abroad. Good luck with that. Central Europe is a dumping ground for old projects and a slave site.
