Agreed. This is a global trend - urbanization, perhaps accelerated in Eastern Europe due to fall of communism and jobs being available in many remote places which was untenable in the long term.

I can tell you that the successful people stayed in Eastern Europe. Companies rarely hire people from abroad even if they have the right skills. They prefer local candidates who already live in the country. Living in another country is grounds for auto rejection of job application.

@auggieeast Concentrating brightest minds is one of the factors that make US so successful. EU just follows suit. Poor US regions are poor because they have backward mindset. One manifestation is voting for Trump. These people exist in all countries, also in the EU. And everywhere, they are poor because of their mindset. They tend to shift the blame to others - rich capitalists, West, government, globalists but never blame themselves.

@YaBoiHakim It's duty of citizens of democratic countries to promote liberal democracy in the world. This mission will be finished only once the whole planet is democratic.

Gorbachev wanted to uplift the whole region, but he was unfortunately born in the wrong country. Russians seem to prefer stalinism and violence.

Europeans are not that motivated to migrate to Australia as they are not as desperate as Indians or Chinese people. Australian immigration system favors the young in 20s-30s but at that age Europeans do not feel the need to leave. It would perhaps be interesting to live in Australia for 3-5 years but companies are not interested in hiring candidates from abroad. I understand the intention was to give fair chance to everyone, but it also means very few people from developed countries will be immigrating.
