  6. The main problem is people no longer have the skills to build their houses. That's the main reason why prices are high. In early 20th century it was different.

  9. Unfortunately it won't work as the problem is a lot more complicated. US is a magnet for rich people from the whole world which drives up demand for houses. American population is a smaller fraction of world population than it was in 80s. It's not only domestic issues behind high demand, but it is also result of globalization. All this makes the US a bad place to start family.
