  9.  @valshin  Good advice - keep rotating politicians and don't look for a perfect one. They do not exist. Do not let anyone stay in power for too long or corruption never ends. Most people want to fix these problems but with political crooks taking top positions it is very difficult, which is why rotating politicians is vitally important. Never let anyone stay in power as long as Orban or Putin. Greetings from Czechia.

  10.  @valshin  Kremlin never treats Poles, Ukrainians, Czechs, Slovaks as equals, only as subjects who must obey. Unfortunately the ruling class there didn't evolve much over the last 100 years, they are ultra-conservative. We would love to have good relationship with them, but Kremlin keeps trying to undermine our democracy and EU membership in order to expand its power. Ukraine definitely needs a strong army if it is to survive. The alternative is mafia state like in Donbass region. That is exactly what will happen if you do not stand for democratic Ukraine.

  14. Russian invasion of Ukraine was the best thing that happened to greens. They no longer have to push transition to green energy with taxation. The justification now is Russia being a threat and thus cannot be source of Europe's energy. Only the far right will argue against that. It also needs to be accelerated.

  15. I live in Czechia. NZ, Australia, Canada has been a great disappointment. Only Americans keep fighting this nonsense. Germany, France, Italy have very strict rules in place. Their population is obedient and trusts their government. We do not. We voted out the previous government. Should the new one follow footsteps of the last, it will be kicked out as well.

  16.  @brian472  100% agreed. One of the goals of EU is also to act as a guardian of liberal democracy in its member states. If any country wishes to go down the authoritarian route, they are free to do that but such course is incompatible with further EU membership. The EU needs to be very clear on that and needs effective mechanisms to act against misbehaving countries. EU membership is optional and Hungary is free to leave if it disagrees.   22. I live in Eastern EU. Even though we are poorer, people do not live in slums, infrastructure is decent, education system is good, crime rate is low - that's why we were often referred to as 2nd world and transition to democracy was successful unlike Afghanistan/Iraq. You can also make good money in selected fields, I make $110,000/pa which is a very good salary in this region. We aren't facing problems with immigration unlike western EU/US, no need for political correctness. There is no good justification for immigrating to US for those of us who are successful. It makes sense mostly for mixed couples in my opinion.

  23. Spot on, I live in Czechia as well. Czechia and Slovakia also have people who love dictators (after all Americans have them too), but they are much less numerous than in Hungary or Poland. It's mostly the old socialist generation who votes for such parties here. They can teach us younger generation absolutely nothing as far as politics is concerned which is why we look elsewhere for political role models.

West thought it was immune from all kinds of totalitarian ideologies but it was mistaken.   50. They would have to immigrate in large numbers though as central European languages are very complicated and countries very small. That's one of the reasons why this region doesn't have problems with immigration - because nobody wants to learn languages with 5-10mil speakers.
