I somewhat admire this attitude of not wanting to profit at someone else's expense. But how are you going to do that? Because even more simple jobs often require you to be deceptive and manipulate people at their expense. Now this might be over smaller issue where less money is on the line for them but even so you are forced to chose between their interest and your own and can't keep the job if you chose theirs. What I mean is you can pick another job for income if what you are required to do is too evil. But what if you have no more options for other work or all options require you to be hostile to other people?

Sadly that's often true. Al tough co-workers can be fun too. Some of my worst experience doing unskilled work is that some of the co-workers were real human trash.

Basically if you do that people will improve themselves and realize that people making (much) more than them aren't better than them and they will not accept as low pay as they do now. And will start to compete for better paying positions. And if they can't compete for them they will become highly aware of the fact that upwards mobility is not possible and a sort of consciousness will develop in the general population that the system is unjust and the people will demand change. So basically the rich will lose their power if they do that.

maybe it would create more workers yes. But no one would be able to pay what is payed now in term of hourly wage. even though that isn't really enough to "live" from either. So finding work for all those people would mean paying them less than minimum and that is currently illegal But I guess you can look forward to after the collapse that you will get to own slaves. Because of course you are doing well for yourself.

these stories are more satisfying if you tell it that the old employer was absolute screwed over by causing her to leave. Like they overplayed their hand and lost everything their homes their lives. But anyway, I don't know that now.

Nothing, you can refuse to do the immoral job and lose the job and then you have as much power as any homeless person if you take it all the way to it's logical conclusion.

I am pretty sure those employees aren't asked to do two or more of those tasks at the same time. So I'm not sure what you're on about.

Come on man!

Well isn't that kind of true by definition. If you prioritize profit over everything else it will destroy whatever company that is doing that. For the simple fact that "profit" is prioritized over long term survival.

I think it's like a gamble. They know that changing job takes effort in itself and that at another employer you likely won't be appreciated for working harder or better right away either. So if you work more than normal but get normal pay this is extra profit for the employer. It makes sense to pay a worker that works 1.5 as hard 1.5 as much however then there isn't really anything extra gained for the employer. Often enough the worker won't leave at least for a while so they take advantage of it as long as it lasts. It is possible that they are incompetent and that their strategy doesn't work out every time. However it might they are actually playing this game optimally and this is what makes them "good" managers. Exploiting people maximally until they leave then replace them with fresh people.
