Watch Stefan Molyneux's video on McCarthy. He went overboard with a couple cases but he was mostly correct. After the USSR fell declassified documents vindicated him. The media and school system act like it was all a massive witch hunt because ... they're still infested with radical leftwingers and outright Marxists.

@waynemartin2536 The Spanish Inquisition started because Muslim Moors kept fake converting to Christianity, gaining the trust of local Christian rulers then starting violent rebellions. It served a necessary function in a specific historical context. We can't judge history by our modern standards. And honestly The Reformation was a bloodbath and possibly delayed the industrial revolution by 200 years. Catholic monasteries were making rapid advances in metallurgy (and developing steam engine prototypes) but were disbanded and looted by Protestant rulers.

Choice 1 - The Inquisition roughs up or executes the occasional heretic Choice 2 - anti-Catholic writings spread across Germany, resulting in the 30 Years War and millions dead

@waynemartin2536 I'm not a Christian lol I'm just interested in Christianity insofar as it can be used for reactionary political ends. I'd sooner support a theocratic monarchy than let the progressives have their way.
