  5. Domestic violence, at least in the West, is 50/50 initiated by women. Also women file for 80% of divorces usually for frivolous reasons. And divorce courts overwhelmingly award women cash and prizes at the expense of men.

Maybe they'd try to get the guy with the most cows or biggest field or whatever in their village, but they weren't under any illusions that they could ALL marry the local aristocrat and join the nobility. That simply wasn't realistic. They would "settle" for the best guy they could get in their immediate vicinity, relatively early in life too.
