@newtonia-uo4889 Familial legacy isn't eternal either. How many people even know the names of their great-great-grandparents? And your genetic contribution is halved with each generation. After 10 generations your genes make up only ~0.1% of your descendants' genes. And it's expotential so after 20 generations it's basically nothing. I'm not making an argument for or against having kids - if that's what you want, more power to you. I'm saying in the grand scheme of things your "legacy" will be lost to the sands of time...

I also heard a guy arguing that women entering the workforce en masse led to the rise of TV dinners and fast food. In the past they'd be at home cooking food with real ingredients from scratch. But both parents at work means they don't have time to cook properly and buy processed garbage instead. So feminism was a contributing factor to the obesity epidemic we see today.

Have you read Rene Girard? He says the origin of violence is within a community. "The scapegoat mechanism". Even in an isolated village with no nearby enemy tribes - envy, rivalries, etc will build up. They solve this by blaming one person or group within their community - accuse them of being a witch, for example - so the community can put their rivalries aside and unite to punish the scapegoat. The truth of the accusations is irrelevant the important part is that it unites the community. This was later formalized and ritualized into human sacrifices in early pagan religions.

Yeah if they really cared about public health and reducing preventable deaths they'd tell people to stop eating so much sugar and refined grains and at least go for a 30min walk 2-3 times a week. Obesity and heart disease kills WAY more people than this overhyped flu. The problem is big pharma can make way more money selling sick people patented medication than recommending cheap and common-sense prevention.

Native tribes on the west coast called them Sasquatch and said they interacted with them regularly. Hammerson Peters channel on YT has a video series on all the historical accounts. The term "bigfoot" was coined in the 1960's but it's much older than that. Definitely not a modern urban myth

If a man had sex with a woman he was responsible for protecting and providing for her and the resulting children. A great deal of time, resources and possibly facing dangers. If he committed to a "loose" woman, and took on that responsibility, he risked getting tricked into investing that time, resources, facing dangers, into a rival male's offspring. He bears the costs while some other guy's genes benefit. That's why most men have a hardwired, gut level aversion to committing to "loose" women. Even if "it's in the past".... past behavior is a good indicator of future behavior. That's why banks don't give out loans to people with bad credit history.

@7:00 Bob Gymlan YT channel did a video about this photo. There were more photos. Two HBC trappers shot it. Took pics. Reported it to HQ. HQ then sent a team to collect the body and the photos. The team wanted to keep it quiet and threatened they'd lose their jobs if they spread the story. The trappers complied. I think the shop keeper at the general store which developed the photos managed to keep that one photo hidden and only released it many years later in the 1920's after the trappers were dead/retired.

@josephboustany4852 I spend way too much time researching bigfoot stuff lol. Hammerson Peters and Bob Gymlan channel have some good videos. But yeah there's +200 years of documented sightings. The the descriptions of it's appearance/behavior have remained consistent over the years. Some people have managed to take plaster casts of alleged bigfoot prints but that's it as far as physical evidence afaik. And a few photos/videos but they're all disputed and not really conclusive. I lean towards it COULD be real but can't say for sure.
