@antiminer2422 Actually… Sikorskiy was ethnically Russian, born in Kyiv to a staunchly Russian nationalist father. Here’s an excerpt from Wiki (with citations): “Igor Sikorsky was an Orthodox Christian.[16] When questioned regarding his roots, he would answer: "My family is of Russian origin. My grandfather and other ancestors from the time of Peter the Great were Russian Orthodox priests."[3]” He went to school in St Petersburg, then Paris, then enrolled in Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 1907. He then fled from the Communists in 1918.

@user-g5xnx7gjqb The Rus-Varangians weren’t Russian. They were Swedish Vikings. Russia didn’t exist until after the Mongol invasion when the Dutchy of Moscow separated due to the break up of Kyiv. Kyiv existed for centuries before Russia existed.

@eioclementi1355 Yes, if you can’t maintain them, they’re pointless.

@kevinfidler6287 One only needs to see which aircraft is used as presidential transport in the US to understand the reliability and capability of these helicopters.
2
@McTeerZor The Sea King easily surpasses 100kts in operation. It tops out at 140kts.

The Sea Kings are old, but so are the Mi-17s Ukraine uses. As long as they’ve been modernized throughout the years and kept in good condition, they’ll do just fine.

@ConalRF They modernized coms, yes, but also avionics, engines, transmission, wiring, etc.

@allanjmacleod6438 All helicopters need more maintenance than airplanes. DUH.

@shsh-he5qg When it comes to transport helicopters, it absolutely can.

@carstenweiland7896 It’s as fast and powerful as any other on the battlefield. Power isn’t everything.

@eioclementi1355 I know you’re not an expert on anything.

@eioclementi1355 Except delusional people always think they aren’t.

@paul7TM The modern Chinook has very little in common with the Chinook of the 1960s or 1970s.
