  1. “I don’t think Putin had or has imperial ambitions” Is he insane? Putin LITERALLY created the Union State (look it up). Putin has CONSISTENTLY stated, over the years, that Ukraine belongs to that union. he has also stated that he wants Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to join it later as well.

  2. It’s not just that he has said as much. Everyone says things they don’t mean. It’s that him, and his entire party have been using it as a main point in elections, state expenditures and rally cries in Russia for over a decade. It began with Chechnya. The guy DEEPLY believes in the supremacy of Russia and in rebuilding its empire. I mean DEEPLY.

  3.  @CedarHunt  Obviously. Nationalism is a powerful sentiment everywhere. The issue is that he’s not calling for an internal growth of Russia. He’s calling for annexation of other nations as an ego boost to that nationalism. That’s not to say that the majority of Russians agree with that. They really don’t, but they are tired of living in shit, and don’t know another way out of it.

  7. In think you, and most other people are a bit too… limited in knowledge to understand. You think that Ukraine can either be a part of Russia proper, be a vassal state (partner/ally) or be completely independent. In reality, Russia didn’t want any of that. What Russia was looking to do was to resurrect a USSR-type of arrangement, where Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and others become a union, under the general leadership of Moscow and under the military protection of Moscow. The inly way to get there was for Belarus and Ukraine to voluntarily request such a state. It was already started between Putin and Lukashenko - The Union State. For this, Putin needed a leader in Ukraine who would play ball. That plan went to shit in February 2014 with the Maidan Revolution, so Putin put his Plan B into play - dissent of Donbas. That plan was a longer-term, strategic one. He hoped the dissent against Zelensky would spread, but instead, the country prospered financially, and people actually turned away from Russia. So what you see now is really Plan C. If this succeeds, Kazakhstan and others will fall in line, quietly. If it fails, Putin and his party are done for, likely to be replaced by even more hardline nationalists.

Whatever Chechnya’s religion may be has NOTHING to do with that conflict. Also, go learn Ukrainian history, SERIOUSLY. And.. NATO of the 1960s and 1970s is far from NATO of today. There are no US vassal states in Europe for many decades. The EU is just as strong politically as the US, if not more so. You also need to read what you write. You contradict yourself, big time.

  10. Well… being from Russia, with 1/2 of my lineage being Ukrainian, and always having been interested in politics, I will pretend that I know more than him, because I factually do. The guy’s an obvious Conservative conspiracy theorist who’s trying to make a solid buck by becoming “internet famous.” None of his claims are actually based on any real research nor knowing any Russian politicians. All of it ignores past facts, obvious strategies (political and military) and the personalities of the players involved. His sole belief is that Putin’s approach as an autocrat is logical and understandable. The guy absolutely adores autocrats and is an avid supporter of Trump. Had he lived in the 1930’s he’d be excusing Hitler’s annexation of Czechoslovakia. The sole statement of Russia’s only wanting to go to Odessa is 5th grade silly. Has he never heard of Transnistria or its current state? Did he not see the speeches and military operations toward Kharkiv and Kyiv? The guy sadly proves thar not everyone who graduates from the USMA is bright.
