  1. When it comes to demilitarization, an invading country can’t take 1:1 losses, not even if they’re much larger. Think about it… if Russia beats Ukraine, but then has little to defend itself against anyone else, how is that a win? That invites every other country in the region to pull out of Russia’s zone of influence and leaves Russia unable to do anything like keeping breakaway republics from leaving. Chechnya, for example, would be able to easily leave this time. It would invite Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to join the Turkic nations union and leave the CSTO. It will also worsen Belarus’ relationship with Russia because it will be unprotected. No, Russia can’t lose much without losing.
