Preston, I think you’re applying a little too much “Western” logic to the Hezbollah assessment. Look at it from a different perspective. With Hanas being practically dismantled at this point, Iran is looking at who are going to be their chosen ones for the next year. Will it be Hezbollah? The Houthis? Someone else? All of those organizations are now trying to impress their sponsor and take over the power vacuum of Jihadist groups left after Hamas, but also ones to take on the fight against Jews, Americans, Europeans, and even the Saudis. The ones who can prove to be the biggest gadfly to their enemies will get the support. That actually means more to them than losing a few hundred fighters.

@Fatman305 It’s exactly what was said of Al Qaeda. These organizations aren’t thinking of being peer or near-peer enemies with the US. They understand the US isn’t in the mood to once again enter into a full conflict in the region.

@CJ-jl6hf Actually that’s false. The Revenue Cutter Service was created to protect US and foreign merchant vessels going into and out of US ports. That service became the US Coast Guard. The US Navy’s mission has ALWAYS been to protect US shores from foreign invasion and to project power abroad.

@CJ-jl6hf Are you stupid or mentally ill? Perhaps both? YOU GO LOOK IT UP! The Revenue Cutter Service was established as Revenue Marine by Alexander Hamilton in 1790 to protect merchant ships from pirates. Their job was to ensure merchant ships from and to Europe had safe passage and paid the customs fees on their imports. In fact, between 1790 and 1798 it was the ONLY military maritime service in the US as the US Navy had been disbanded in 1785 because it was only created to beat back the British Navy. Once the Revolutionary war had ended, the US Navy had no purpose.
