@Woessner1101 That is crazy. It shows your absolute lack of knowledge of military doctrine. Despite the US having fought asymmetric conflicts the last 20 years, it has not lost the knowledge, tactics or strategies of the Cold War. In fact, it has practiced them the entire time. Our weapons systems have been designed for it, whether it be China or Russia, or more accurately, BOTH. Yes, our DoD has required our military to be able to fight both of those enemies at the same time, conventionally. That’s what we’re equipped and trained for. That’s why our military is so large and expensive.

Girkin’s a real piece of work that Moscow might just arrest and offer to the Hague as a negotiations concession in the future. He recently went back to Donbas to join the fight, again, as he was only admitted as a Private, despite his former Lt Colonel rank in the FSB internal forces (now RosGuard). He actually took command of a battalion from Donbas separatists for a little bit, but was never allowed to get into any fight because he lacked any military ID. Apparently none of it was official. So he was told to go home, which he did, with a really pouty face. You can’t make this shit up.

Wagner’s been using that hotel as HQ for many months now, in the open. They just didn’t think UA could hit that far. Oopsie!

It won’t because contractors get no protections of the Geneva Conventions.

@jack16742 Iraq and Afghanistan were never signatories to the Geneva Conventions, so it didn’t matter, plus we were protecting them with our troops as we were openly present. That’s not at all the case in Ukraine. If Western contractors are working on US systems in Ukraine, it is a direct link to Western countries actually fighting in the war. No one wants that. Ukrainians will get their training. They pick things up pretty well. The guys who will be trained will be coming off of S-300s, not some random reservists. They’ll get it pretty quick. No one said the Patriot will be combat ready any time soon.

Until the next war. Every war is a major change.

@18Krieger That suggests that infantry and artillery aren’t being countered, which is ridiculous. You have to be able to push through or around the defenses to make progress.

@Woessner1101 You’re an uneducated idiot. No one lost to any “cave people” and even if we had, that would only reinforce that we don’t know how to fight asymmetric warfare because we’re completely geared toward large scale p2p warfare. I have 22 years in. Don’t try your bs here. You have NO clue of what a win is. You also obviously have no idea of what “hanging in” is. Russia’s objectively losing a large scale conflict with an enemy less than 1/3 its size, an enemy armed almost entirely with Russia’s old (obsolete) weapons.

@Geotpf F-16s aren’t air superiority fighters, but you’re right. Between all the air power and cruise missiles the US has, if Russia was to fight a conventional (non-nuclear) war, it’d be over already. I think most US generals were surprised by how poorly equipped and how impotent the Russian military turned out.
