DarklightRebel Actually, it takes over a second between the instant you start to depress the clutch, row through into the gear you want and then get the clutch to bite. Even if you’re being an asshole to your clutch and just jam it, the DSG still takes less time to switch. It’s been timed. It’s all a psychological thing, nothing else. The DSG is, factually, faster.

If you bought the GTI anyway, then the N is just fast for a Veloster, not actually a good car.

Stephen Hendricks Except that’s literally backwards. Europe is where hot hatches are the favourite and North America clearly prefers sedans. Also, the i30N is a hot hatch, just like the GTI and Veloster.

Beanjuice That’s a 5 year/60k miles on the Hyundai. The 10/100k isn’t transferrable either.

The manual in the GTI is just perfect. Always has been. Unless you live in a very dense city like New York or Chicago, get the manual. If you do live in NYC or Chicago, then just get the Golf with the automatic. You won’t get to enjoy the GTI much in traffic anyway, so you may as well just get the better fuel economy.
