Derek Mandy that’s your opinion. The fact is that a lot of people consider the resale value when making new car plans. Most new car owners only hold on to their cars for 5-7 years and then trade them in/sell them. A lot of people simply lease the cars (and their resale value dictates lease deals). You may not care, but a lot of people certainly do. Take the dealer’s word for it. He’s the pro, not you.

JustinLegend except only about 5% of buyers bought the Turbo in North America when it was offered. It seems almost everyone who wants a fast Subie, buys a WRX and not a Forester, which makes sense: Foresters are utility vehicles, boxes on wheels. They don’t need to be fast. They need to be utilitarian, safe and economical. That the Forester 2.5 does very well. I recommend you look into a WRX or at least the Outback with the H6 or 2.4T. At least that’s a car... a raised car, but still a car.

Jet C no, you wouldn’t, because it would cost over $40k and be too high up to handle well anyway. There are MUCH better cars out there for that price and Subaru knows that. Do you drive a WRX STi now? If not, you wouldn’t buy this one either.

@emissarygw2264 the car dealers would know what people are mentioning during purchase negotiations. If buyers are talking about the resale value as a factor in pricing, then it's important to them. Otherwise they wouldn't even know to bring it up.

No, you wouldn’t, because it would cost over $40k, wouldn’t handle well due to its high center of gravity and wouldn’t be as fast as a WRX due to its higher weight.

Derek Mandy unfortunately, it IS reactive, AND incapable if sending more than 50% of the torque to the rear axle, which given how little torque these cars generate compared to their weight, is a problem when both front tires lose traction. Many other brands can send up to 100% to the front or the rear when it’s needed. What’s the use of AWD on a nice dry highway in the summer anyway?

Derek Mandy no, just deleting the AWD Sportwagen. The FWD will stay, as will the Alltrak.
