@cm-pr2ys Why would they? They have very different missions and structures than the Ranger regiment and a completely different history too.
3
@tomk3732 What are you comparing and why? The BMP-2 and above have no amphibious capability, just like the M2 above the A1 variant. The M2A2 and above are superior to the BMP-3 in most ways. The Kurganets-25 promises to be a big leap forward, but even that’s below the M2A4 level.
3
Whether you want to believe it or not, the beret actually did have a major positive effect on the Army in the 2000s though. Once the controversy died down, people enjoyed looking sharp and having a positive image, especially since the Iraq and Afghanistan wars had just started and we were kicking their asses. The beret is still in use.
3
@Horesmi There has also been no verification of S300 or BUK usage since then, despite a large number of aerial attacks on Ukraine. If they’re not out of them, they have very few left, likely in Kyiv or Lviv.
3
@MarcosElMalo2 The Rangers weren’t dismayed. They just changed the beret.
3
@T.J. Kong Recruiting videos and propaganda are different things though. Russia is simply lying about actual events.
3
@MohamedAli-eo2iz Sadly, Ukraine is not beating them.
3
@joshiewat 1. You DO get personal time on deployment. 2. You CAN make videos on the deck. 3. No, you don’t know what it’s like. 4. You are ABSOLUTELY being homophobic. Finally, you forgot to quote whatever it is in the Army creed that forbids it. I rarely accuse people of being bigots, but some people really fit the definition.
3
@lenorevanalstine1219 That’s a funny take on things. The funny part is that you separate Gazans between civilians and combatants when they’re interchangeable.
2
@AtlantiansGaming No. The Army and Air National Guards already have Cyber warriors on staff. They protect the states from cyber attacks.
2
The help would most likely come from current Viper pilots and retirees who are contractors, teaching Ukrainians tactics.
2
@dizzygamer619 You wouldn’t carry one for sure, but my guess is that he had just fired the first tube unsuccessfully and is now firing the second.
2
Except no, it doesn’t. No state mission for them, no state weapons systems. Space Force Reserves, on the other hand, do make sense.
2
And an airline.
2
@marcusott2973 It really depends on the variant they receive. The M2A2 ODS isn’t any more modern than the BMP-2 when it comes to gunnery or sights.
2
@dingaia He was 16 years old in 2020. He registered his party affiliation at least two years later.
2
A Guard unit is owned by the state and cannot be turned into a reserve unit, in ANY branch of service.
2
@jamessanders8895 It IS true. Even in time of war when members of the National Guard are activated for Title 10 (National) duty, they remain National Guard soldiers and airmen. They do not become Army or Air Force reserves. They are on federal duty, but still assigned to their Guard units. There is a HUGE difference between the National Guard and Reserve and you don’t know it. Next time ask instead of attempting to teach.
2
@IONATVS What are you taking about? The Air Force Materiel Command is a thing and its officers literally manage acquisitions. The officer AFSC of 63A1 is Acquisition Manager.
2
@garretthaney9134 And the reason for that is simple and excellent: career acquisition officers don’t and wouldn’t know what a weapons system actually needs to do (and what it doesn’t), how, when or how much. You may not know this, but there was a time when the USAF relied far more on AOs and systems came out not meeting real life combat requirements or safe. It’s why things were shifted, but the AO still plays a huge role in the actual bid, program selection and development areas.
2
@johnhaller5851 Look at a map at some point… Romania is not how anything would get to Poland. You’d have to go through multiple countries to do that. Poland has plenty of its own ports that can be used.
2
@johnhaller5851 Again, there is geographically no reason to do that. They’d have to go through 3 countries to reach Poland. They can just be shipped to Gdansk. However, if the Bradleys were being prepped in Romania itself then they can be handed to Ukraine directly from there. There just isn’t any point to ship to Poland via Romania.
2
@MarcosElMalo2 Using civilian equipment in battle is illegal. Masking military equipment to look civilian is illegal. You have NO clue of what you’re talking about. Commercial is not the same as civilian.
2
@MarcosElMalo2 Perfidy law applies. “Attacking enemy forces while posing as a civilian puts all civilians at hazard. Such acts of perfidy are punishable as war crimes.” - International Committee of the Red Cross’s website. The law of Perfidy in the Geneva Conventions applies to a wide range of unlawful deceptions “designed to invite the confidence of the enemy to lead him to believe that he is entided to, or is obliged to accord, protected status under the law of anned conflict, with the intent to betray that confidence.” Masking weapons as non-combatant equipment used for civilian populations falls under that category very clearly. The point of perfidy law is to protect civilians, not simply regulate the military.
2
@jonnym4670 Bad rule in war, but my guess is that you’ve never been in such a situation.
2
So that Russians can study it? No thanks!
2
He is not in custody. He is under protection. There’s a big difference.
2
@greg5011 And NATO accepted Ukraine?
2
6 month contracts are funny. First off, I think we all understand that no one can be trained to be a competent soldier in 6 months, right along actually have time to fight in a war. Right? Of course that’s not really an issue since Russia currently has what’s known in the US as “stop loss”. That is to say that no one is being let out of duty until they are allowed to, so those 6 months will turn into years. Getting out of conscription is an art that’s been practiced for about 100 years. The life of a conscript is about on the level of a felon in prison, unless you get into the Border Guards, which tends to be better. Russian reserves are similar to IRR (inactive ready reserve) in the US.
2
@arktheball Except no, it wasn’t addressing a principle. It was demonstrating the exact problem the OP was referring to. YOU are the problem because you didn’t watch and comprehend the video. You assumed, and went on an attack.
2
@arktheball You didn’t address anything. You made a false claim about presidential nominees lying about minute things, which in the context of the video subject is whether or not Harris ever worked at McDonald’s.
2
As for Wild Weasel, it is ESPECIALLY effective against mobile SAM systems as it targets where the search radar is at the moment the HARM is fired, leaving it NO chance to move. With the HARM and ALARM missiles this was all easy, as long as the radar continued to track. If it was turned off, both missiles lost a lock. With the newer HARM, GPS/INS were added for it to remember the radar site’s location and target it. The F-16’s relatively small size, thrust to weight and extreme agility due to an aerodynamically unstable design makes it desired for Wild Weasel as it ends up having to evade SAMs quite a bit. The F-15 is not maneuverable enough. The only foreign aircraft that I know could pull this off are the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale. This mission set requires very good performance at higher altitudes.
2
How is that different from visual targeting? At least they’d wait for ambulances to leave.
2
@dewetmaartens359 Historically that’s false.
2
@garyK.45ACP He has to be sentenced at some point, unless the governor steps in, and that isn’t likely to happen.
2
@alexg4462 Well no. When he’s sentenced, he will be present in the courtroom.
2
@davidmunoz2360 Aviators are people who actually fly (aviate) the aircraft. Enlisted don’t do that in the US military. Enlisted billets are called aircrew.
2
@dwwolf4636 They did go with the CV-90.
2
@MarcinP2 You can’t use outlying exceptions to justify the rule. Most civilian airliners are never targeted by any military BECAUSE they squawk civilian idents.
2
@dakotareid1566 Russia and China had signed onto GC I-IV and P I-II. The US signed onto GC I-IV and P III.
2
@imjustanotherguy2007 I didn’t say a thing about where flags are manufactured.
2
An individual soldier or airman is a part of a unit.
2
There are currently 13,789 active duty rated pilots in the US Air Force. There are 336,700 active duty USAF members total. Think about that… 322,911 people are needed to support 13,789 people.
2
@stephenhumphrey7935 Ryan was correct on the IR illumination technology last being used by the US on the M60s in the late 1970s.
2
@General_Ward No. Did you not watch the video?
2
@Kratosfallinmemeiscool So Palestinians hate Hamas so much that not only do they fight for them (Hamas is 100% Palestinian), but they also overwhelmingly voted for them. Farah barely won the West Bank elections too (some say illegally).
2
@MrKotBonifacy Maybe go and learn about the issues Egypt has had in the Sinai for the last 2 decades?
2
The M1A2sepV2 and newer have crew compartment hydraulic air conditioning to keep all the computers within operating temps.
2
@rovinruss4770 Yeah, the cooling really is just for the computers. Anything the crew gets is purely incidental. Also, it’s not all that much cooling, but when fighting in 120°F heat of the desert, it’s necessary.
2
@uceid It’s okay. They are hard to replace. Not sure that Russia is looking at replacing them at the moment though. Russia is using very few air assets against Ukraine and there are I believe 55 TU-95MS in Russian inventory. It’s an outdated aircraft that really should be retired. The TU-160s are their replacement (partial).
