Now consider crew chiefs who work on transports and other heavies… They have dozens of lives in their hands every time they generate a sortie.

@smtxs9274 Yeah… we always worked in teams. I worked on C-141s and then C-17s and having LOTS of tires, huge hydraulics, complex HVAC, and 4 engines didn’t help. We also had lots of structures and metals guys. Lots of surface to inspect.

@smtxs9274 I mean I was a com/navs tech, so it wasn’t all that different for me, except that on F-16s a single AFSC handles avionics and two AFSCs handle that on transports. For crew chiefs… yeah… very different.

@davidmunoz2360 Aviators are people who actually fly (aviate) the aircraft. Enlisted don’t do that in the US military. Enlisted billets are called aircrew.

There are currently 13,789 active duty rated pilots in the US Air Force. There are 336,700 active duty USAF members total. Think about that… 322,911 people are needed to support 13,789 people.

You took a shit job… and then thought to yourself, “I can do worse!”
