@sternwho3932 Every modern engine has variable timing/compression on it.

@HALWG51 There is no such thing as “electric motor issues.”

A tiny, high-compression 3-cylinder direct injection with a turbo and CVT? What could go wrong?! Or… and hear me out… a 2.5 NA engine with dual injection and an Aisin 8-speed automatic making the same power… Which would you choose?

@ I agree. Rav4 FTW.

@HALWG51 JD Power ratings are for perceived reliability and Consumer Reports has no data on it yet. At best, they rate things for their first year of ownership. They also equate a critical engine/transmission failure to an infotainment system glitch. Either one is a “failure”. They’re useless for gauging reliability. What isn’t bull is that high-compression engines have higher failure rates than low-compression engines. DI engines have higher rates than PI/DI engines. Turbo engines fail more than naturally aspirated ones. CVTs fail a lot more than torque converter automatics, especially in CUV use. This Rogue has all of those statistics going against it, so your specific car may or may not end up being reliable, but statistically, this won’t be a reliable vehicle as far as the engine and transmission go. As for suspension, steering and electrical… Nissans are about average.
