There is no “downward turbo fan”.
1
You lost it on the 2nd sentence. The F-35 has a lift fan, but it’s behind this intake, which is a cold air intake for the jet engine.
1
All that writing and you’re incorrect. Could have spent that time educating yourself instead. Go ahead and do an actual look-up. Hint: the fan that creates vertical thrust (not lift) is behind it. Also, the F-35 only had one engine and it doesn’t rotate.
1
Not an Air Force video. Did you even watch?
1
No, not really.
1
They ARE VSTOL and are British, so he knows then well.
1
Dude... stop. You’ve made a number of these comments. They’re all wrong. The fan is behind this jet air intake.
1
Negative. It’s an air intake. The fan hatch is right behind it. Freeze it at 6:51 and you’ll see.
1
Wrong hatch. The fan is behind it.

The engine never moves.

Learn what flaps are, please.
1
@sebh4679 No, you clearly do not.
1
@sebh4679 😂 Oh yeah? Go ahead and tell us then.
1
@sebh4679 Again, WHAT ARE FLAPS? (your answer demonstrates you have no clue of what they are or what they do)
1
@sebh4679 Of course it’s okay, because you don’t, and don’t want to know. I suspect you couldn’t be bothered to do a simple Google search either. Yet you have time to yap on Youtube. 🤦♂️
1
@sebh4679 The fact that flaps are wing extensions somehow completely escaped you though? Even though that’s their entire point?
1
Except there are multiple connections and they’re done via satellite, not radio, and on multiple bands, so disrupting them is almost impossible for prolonged periods and over large swaths of land. They are most vulnerable on landing.
1
@jaryncovell2538 I don’t think you understand. Read again, and stop thinking you’re smarter than the world’s defense industry.
1
@jaryncovell2538 Did I say “impossible”? READ! Literally ANYTHING is possible, scientifically. It’s all a question of probability, not possibility. You don’t get risk assessment, do you? Military unmanned aircraft are designed to have multiple redundancies built into them, especially for linkages.
1
It is an air intake, but for the turbine, not for the fan. The fan is behind it.
1
Both are wrong. The hatch is for a cold air intake for the jet engine compressor. The lift fan is behind it. At low speeds, the jet engine still needs lots of cold air to generate the thrust to lift up. This allows it to draw clean, cooler air in large amounts than from below. As the plane picks up forward speed and lift from the wings, the exhaust nozzles are pointed forward, the lift fan is disconnected and the hatch is covered as the jet now gets more air from its air speed.
1
@M4XIMUS135 Literally NOT a jet engine and literally has NOTHING in common with the Yak-41 prototype as the systems are an engineering move forward from the Harrier.
1
No.
1
You’re no engineer, for sure. It’s not the fan cover. That’s behind it.
1
No.
1
False. The engine never rotates. The exhaust nozzles do. Also, the “toilet seat” is an air intake for the engine. The hatch for the fan is behind it. Look at 6:51 and you’ll see both open. The jet engine needs more cold air compression than it can get at these low speeds, so it uses that air intake to draw colder (denser air).
1
Not at all. For one, it can’t land vertically or take off in such short distances. It’s also shit for close air support.,
1
False. It’s an air intake for the jet. The vertical lift fan is behind it, with its own, smaller hatch doors.
