Comments by "afcgeo" (@afcgeo882) on "Why Does Aviation Use Nautical Miles?" video.
All of aviation was built on nautical history, language and traditions.

@intergalactic_butterfly The foot is 100% a standard, scientifically defined, and fixed distance. It is the equivalent of 30.48cm, always. It is also older than the centimeter, so if anything, the metric system is the arbitrary construct. In fact, its history absolutely acknowledges that.

@cf6282 As well as referring to individual aircraft as ships.

Only fix things that are actually broken.

You’d have to switch a lot of gauges.
2
Except it literally is not.
2
Chaos in aviation... because how bad could it get?

@risannd Canada is indeed full metric.

Visibility should be in miles, not km and one nautical mile per hour is a knot.

US and UK miles are identical and have been since the yard was standardized in 1959. It’s also called the “international mile”.

Because communism is correct? 😂

@Mat2000IPAD Russia and China, the two countries mentioned do. If you don’t know why (simple history) the US uses imperial measurements then you really need not comment. Just go back to school.

@Mat2000IPAD You think Russia isn’t communist anymore? 😂 You must know nothing about Russia or you’re a communist. France is not one you mentioned though, is it? Not every country on Earth uses it, by the way. Over 400 million people on this planet don’t use it.
1
@Mat2000IPAD First off, you wrote that “every country” uses the metric system. Second, the count of countries is irrelevant. What’s relevant is the amount of people who use it, the percentage of aircraft thar use it and who is the leading agency in aviation regulation today. Seriously, I don’t know why you write either, except to troll.

@FirstLastOne And that literally means it isn’t “the whole world”, doesn’t it? About 420 million people don’t count suddenly? That’s over three times the population of Western Europe (129 million).
1
Do you know what accuracy even means? 😂
1
@peteconrad2077 Better... worse... not accuracy issues. ALL measurements, if measured accurately, are exactly 100% accurate, no latter how you express them. Ease of counting and accuracy are COMPLETELY different concepts. Also, abortion operations are medical processes.
1
@peteconrad2077 Not autocorrect. You completely changed your comment to the opposite.

Liters are a volume measurement. Fuel changes volume based on temperatures and altitude.
