Janice Taylor the new one looks like a suburban mum is coming.

To be fair, farmers never bought the Defenders. Too expensive. Farmers bought the pre-Defender name Land Rovers with the old non-turbo Diesels - the ones easy to fix. The ones you can bang up and not cry.

It is about twice the size...

There are already plenty of those around, aren’t there? This isn’t 1956 where you have just one choice.

Adam Quirke No, there isn’t a utility one coming. This is it. Just the 110 and next year, the 90. No pick-ups. They want to keep it high end. Too many decent puck-ups to compete with already on the market. https://www.motor1.com/news/370273/land-rover-defender-pickup-canceled/amp/

How is this any better on or off road than a Range Rover Sport or even a Disco Sport?

Chris T. The Yeti is a good car, but let’s face it, it’s no off-roader at all.

Frazer Mountford How is a Yeti a rip-off of a Land Rover? Because it has 4 wheels and an engine? It’s more of a rip-off of a Ford Model T than a Land Rover.

Chris T. I am actually a fan of the Yeti. I just don’t see what it has in common with this Defender.

Chris T. Let’s be honest and clear. The Škoda Yeti is an urban front-wheel-drive compact van with a manual transmission, VW engines and an available AWD system. It has nothing at all in common with the Defender, which is a full-size luxury off-road SUV that’s full-time AWD. It has no manufacturer, design cues, engine or transmission, chassis or structure commonalities. They even come from different decades.

You can waive with a solitary finger.

xONEWINGx What Land Rover line model isn’t “Premium” nowadays? They’re all basically Range Rovers now. And yes, it is a modern vehicle. Because the old ones haven’t sold, at all. They were simply toys, not cars people drove anymore. No modern safety features. No modern comfort features. No rear legroom despite it being enormous. It was originally designed for farm use, then military use. There is no market for that anymore. Not for JLR. Both industries now have purpose-built vehicles that are far better at their jobs than a Land Rover.
