The issue is not the ticket or that she had to pay it. No. The problem is that we have people in our city government that get paid by us, the taxpayers, and spend their days abusing not only their authority, but the citizens who employ them and that our legal system doesn’t care about it. Aside from a dismissal, which was a judicial necessity, there must also be an investigation into the officer who wrote the initial ticket AND the hearing officer which denied her first appeal. Both must be terminated from their jobs for abuse of authority. This must not be tolerated by us anymore!

The (19 year-old) men involved are from a radical sect of Lubavitcher Jews who came from Israel in order to recruit more radicals. They have an issue with the more main stream Lubatchers who are fairly modern and moderate.

Henry Pearson It’s not a unique issue. This happens across the country. Our system of government does not police itself. People are flawed. Systems are flawed. There must be active processes in place to combat that. NYC, in theory, has a big department of investigations. They’re the IG of the city. However, they’re too small for the amount of abuse that goes on. This all traces back to the “all American” attitude of “I don’t care”. We don’t know how to live among others. We’re animals.

@thedevilsadvocate5210 I did. I’m the tax payer.
6
Ralph Sanz Honestly though... this happens everywhere.

Derek Bainbridge I see. In New York City, the police department employs “traffic enforcement agents” who are uniformed, but are not police officers and have no arrest powers (similar to Civil Enforcement Officers in the UK). They perform traffic control (controlling intersections) and enforce parking regulations. That includes checking inspection and registration stickers and plates on vehicles. They also operate the NYPD tow trucks. Since their primary function is to write tickets, they generally don’t use discretion, and write out anything they see. Theoretically, they were created to lighten the burden of the real police. Realistically, they create all sorts of problems. They’re poorly trained, poorly paid and generally miserable human beings who simply took the job for the city pension and couldn’t get any other. The starting salary is under $25,000 a year and they work outdoors on all weather. They’re generally despised by all drivers and the police alike for their lack of sensibility and respect.

Russia will pay for damages… after Mexico pays for the wall.

I have a neighbor who doesn’t have a front plate mounted because “it messes up the look of the car.” I told him he might get a ticket. He said if he does, he’ll mount it, take a picture and send it in to fight the ticket. Give that a few seconds of thought...

@merovingian688 You obviously don’t live in NYC.
2
Caryl Ann Compton It has NOTHING to do with the police. You don’t live in NYC, do you?
2
Gary Pierce You’re not wrong. People think this has nothing to do with the Mayor, but the Dept of Finance and the NYPD are both agencies under his control.
2
They take advantage of ALL people, not just working class, and readers scan registration stickers in the windshield, not the license plates.
2
They said, “up to 10 times the speed”.
2
The purpose of governments is to keep order. Think about it.
2
Ren Bianco Possibly not even mounted. You have a point.
1
@kevf500 Frozen doesn’t mean seized. You can’t seize assets without lawful reasons to and court orders.
1
SUBURBS!!! You dumbass!
1
Ukraine had countless opportunities to enter NATO, including referendums, but chose not to.
1
Claudio Rojas I agree. Online hearings no longer work. The hearing officers don’t even look at the evidence you provide.
1
Claudio Rojas Even then, online hearing officers just don’t look. I’ve submitted photos that were clearly not seen. Then at a live hearing, the officer absolutely agreed with me after I showed her the same photos and dismissed.
1
Claudio Rojas And that’s what they count on... that you’ll pay, even if it’s wrong. A friend of mine runs a company that defends these tickets for a small fee. You never have to go to court. If they beat it, you pay a small part of the fine. If they lose, you pay nothing.
1
@Pikachu-qr4yb It usually doesn’t.
1
@TheMathKing You would disagree that deluded people usually have no effect on anyone other than themselves? Fine. You’ve just proven me right.
1
@TheMathKing You claim to be a “MathKing”, but you can’t differentiate between “never” and “sometimes”. Methinks you failed math.
1
Michael DiMartini It is.
1
I’m sorry you didn’t have one when you were mugged then.
1
Ed Buckley And you’re the example of reality. You hate cops for this, even though it has nothing to do with the police. Traffic agents who wrote that ticket are not police officers. Your ignorance is the problem, not the cops.
1
Win? Win how? What is a “win” in this strategy?
1
@alibarron7558 Do you have an example of that?
1
@bruzote Sadly, most Russians are very supportive of the war simply because they’re being told completely fabricated stories. For instance, on TV1, the main Russian channel, they’re telling that Ukrainians are bombing Mariupol into oblivion because Russians are trying to bring in food. Yeah, to us that makes zero sense, but that’s all they see and hear.

This thing takes up the whole bike lane, while at the same time weighs 1000lbs. It literally can’t even get out if its own way.
1
@kirkrotger9208 Bike deliveries aren’t delivering UPS parcels. How do your parents feel about raising a child with such a low IQ?
1
Why? They’ll just need to do 20 trips a day.
1
@merovingian688 Are you high? Correction: how high are you?
1
@merovingian688 Did your parents drop you on your head?
1
@Andrew-om1pw I doubt those pedals can even move it. They’re just there to skirt the law.
1
Patrick Paes It wasn’t a cop.
1
Derek Bainbridge The police had nothing to do with it.
1
Derek Bainbridge A traffic enforcement agent. You don’t live in NYC, do you?
1
Mr Kane If it won’t scan, it’s useless.
1
JamesAllmond scannable bar codes are 19th century tech? You win the troll award for the day! I’ve had cars for 23 years, all registered in NY and never had an issue with sunlight (or anything else) damaging my sticker. Once I had a sticker that didn’t stay stuck the whole year, so I added scotch tape, but that was it. NYC parking agents are also charged with enforcing ALL non-moving traffic violations, including improper/expired registrations, inspections, etc.
1
Yes, and you clearly do not.
1
@HowlingWo1f No, you obviously do not. If you did, then you’d understand that these things won’t fit into the few dedicated (separated) bike lanes, will impede traffic in shared bike lanes, and would be a menace for anyone trying to make a turn. I will bet you don’t even have a driver’s license or own a bike. You’re a 🤡 And my guess is you’re a bridge & tunnel 🤡
1
No. That’s not how international treaties work. They violated Ukranian territorial waters, not the world’s.
1
Did the complainant report this to the NYC DOI? Did the news station? No. Nothing will get fixed if you don’t make a stink out of it!
1
@johndavidwolf4239 What exactly is “wrong” about that? Do you know the precise top speed of that specific missile? No, you do not. The term “hypersonic” specifically means “speeds above mach 5.” Just that basic definition alone rules out mach 5 as the speed, as it must be ABOVE it. Russia officially only states that the Kinzhal missile flies faster than 6,000 km/h, but its true speed is unknown.
1
Smokey Bear Yea, and that’s not enough. NYC has zero tax on clothing items and shoes under $110 each.
1
Andrés Hernández They might if they were reported. Were they? There is a department in NYC that investigates these things. Do you know what it is?
1
Honestly? Because for decades Ukraine voted not to join NATO. No one wants nuclear war. In the end, better to lose Ukraine than the whole planet.
1
“UPS is testing a new way of killing employees using our new eQuad bikes” Also… it’s NOT a bike. It’s LITERALLY a 4-wheeled commercial vehicle, albeit a small one.
